The south boys have gotten the eyes of recruiters, multiple club scouts at the game today.

Ryda Luke (NGA) (yes that's his surname) with a whooping 8 goals in a half. I would like to see more consistency before people get too excited about him but he has some great attributes.

Rodriguez is the most AFL ready out of WA's crop. He plays similar to the recently drafted Draper at Adelaide. Family of Freo supporters so let's hope he doesn't get to WC.

Toby Whan (NGA) is a flipping gun and has multiple strings to his bow. He will rise up the rankings if his form continues. Severely underrated.

Robinson (NGA) had a quiet start to the game but worked into it. A genuine midfield bull and forward threat. Crazy to think he is playing colts a year early. Big boy and still growing!

Idk how we are going to accumulate points for Pickett and our NGA boys.

I said last year that I thought Toby Whan would be a good prospect, but I think I also agree with Ed Pearce that there is a limit on how high Toby Whan will get drafted, because he is perceived as an outside midfielder/flanker at AFL level by recruiters. Don't get me wrong - I know he is currently playing inside midfield for Souths (and playing well), but that is just what the expectation is as to what he will be at the top level. Whilst it sounds boring, the KPI for me with respect to Whan is tackles - the game yesterday he laid 2 (compared to Rodriguez who laid 5).

I am still not sold on Robinson as a top pick because of his kicking, but there is a bit of time I guess and good to see him get some goals. Again, tackling numbers is up there in KPIs for him and just want to see him have intensity all game. Compared to Erasmus at the same point, I think I would have Erasmus higher - he was kicking more goals at the same point in his underage year and just running harder.

Nothing is assured in drafting, but Rodriguez makes a lot of sense for the Eagles. He is clearly about the rest in terms of professionalism, and he has a good all-round game that suits a variety of roles.

Nope NVM is an outside player, Whan is a very good contested player.
I like outside players who can contest inside. Whan and NOD rotating inside-out?

What we need is a big bodied inside bull. If that's Whan, awesome. If not perhaps he plays off half back and through the wings. We could use more power and better disposal in both positions.

I worry that we focus a bit too much on grabbing the likes of Jackson, Bolton and Pickett/Warner.

All fantastic players and if course happy to have them.

I would be really happy to see more improvement coming from mid-tier players such as Walker, Sharp, Frederick, Chapman, Sturt. Even Banfield.

There seems to be a low ceiling that they get to, and it often disappoints me.

Geez we would be very silly to pursue Warner. Good player but disappears when the midfield gets spanked. For the price he is demanding, he won't address any or our current issues.

Any A grade players that want to come we must explore. Chad is A grade every day.
Speed out of the middle.
Hits the scoreboard.
Proven to put the team on his back.

Watching a game where the Swans are getting smacked is far from defining him.

Worth everything we’d cough up if we were able to lure him.

They’re all getting regular games bar Sturt who is injured.

If we believe they’re good enough, there’s someone responsible for their lack of development.

I’d take Pickett over just about every player we have bar Bolton, Young and Brayshaw…and Andy is shaky

100% this. The improvement has to come from this tier, which they have all shown glimpses of.
Need someone to have a development jump like Treacy has but in another area. Someone like Johnson or Chapman just jumping up. NOD was potentially that guy but he just gets injured.
Murphy Reid could be anything.

Darcy for Chris Scott?

This is my worry as well. There seems to have been quite a bit of stagnation from the bottom 8 or so. Many still have development to go being either young or inexperienced (game wise). Bolton very good on Satuday but we still didn't win.

It's not so much the draft cost but more of a lack of competition maybe? I think a non-zero component of it is coaching/development in game.

The club has to rule a line through a few of these bottom rated players.
Pretty easy to see that Fyfe, Walters, Aish are done.
We need another 3 players to be moved on too.
We have some talent through NGA, so luck is finally on our side to cut hard.
Problem is this organisation hasn’t made any tough decisions yet.

He seems to go missing yes but Cox doesn't seem to play him near the ball enough, he's kind of just wandering around. I'd imagine we would play him much closer to the ball.
OR
He's checking out...
