Feels like we’ve completely miss read the direction that the AFL has been tracking since 2021. forcing turn overs, quick accurate ball movement and repeat intense pressure and speed.

Foot skills and athleticism has to be a priority next two drafts
Sure, that's what wins games NOW. But by the time we're contending again, maybe the new meta will favour slow plodders with shit disposal?

Lions Mclugage, Zorko, Coleman, Zac Williams
Collingwood: Daicosx2, perryman, Sidebottom
Geelong: Atkins, Meirs Lawson
GWS: Ash, Whitfield, Kelly, Callinghan

I don't think so.

The issue is we had built the core of our list in 2008-2015 and were unsuited to the more contested, explosive footy we've seen since 2021.

We've drafted those types of players since the shift in AFL in 2021.

Hypothetical:

Say Oscar leaves and we finish last, leaving us with picks 1 & 2.

How would we feel about:

Use pick 1 : Sharp
Trade pick 2 and a 2nd or player (JW?) for Warner
Trade Hawks pick for Leek Aleer.

I know people don’t want to trade that much for Warner, but pick 2 and a second would be brilliant. They may well ask for pick 2 and an F1. Becomes a bit more of a dilemma then, however still something worth considering. He’s 23, fully developed and in his prime. If he wants to come here, you facilitate that. Just gave to ensure we don’t get stooged.

Aleer would solve so many issues with our KPP stocks. He’s from SA, so doesn’t have the go home factor of a Victorian. He’s gone through one of/if not the best development programs in the country and is only 23. He’s be a key back for us for 10 years. And enables us to draft some more mids. Hawks 1st is fair. Only question is how much will some clowns like the Saints offer him?

Just thinking out loud.

This is my nightmare scenario.

I'd take 5-6 guys in an open draft before Sharp. Warner for a single pick would be fine, and there's no way we are getting Aller. There are clubs well in front of us for his services.

There are not 5-6 better footballers than Sharp in the draft this year.

Slight agree and disagree there we’ve definitely trended to more power athlete types with Harley, Ginbey, Allan, Chesser and Hewett. Harley and Hewett are no brainers however Ginbey, Allan and Chesser are prototypical athletic arch types only chess is a good kick out of them.

It's early but there's a very real possibility he slides. Annable, Curtin, Rodriguez, Addinsall, Duursma, Uwland, Duff Tytler are all prospects I'd prefer in an open draft.
I can’t tell you how to view the draftees but if Dyson gets to pick 6-7 that club will have the biggest steal of the draft in the last decade.

He(8.98) has been better than Tracey(8.80) and Georgiades(8.96). So far hes only being beaten by Sam Darcy(17.92) and Riley Thilthorpe(13.85). It ain't much but it's still impressive considering the way the team has been playing thus far. Jye Amiss has a 3.60 PR so far this year in case anyone was interested
Where do these ratings come from?

Does playing second ruck help boost a players rating?

Zac Williams plays for Carltank.

Lions two other ball users are Darcy Wilmot and Jasper Fletcher (who has moved back since Starcevich went down).

Gryan Miers is a small forward with a very funky kicking action.

Rumours are Oscars wife was drunk at a music festival this weekend running her mouth that they were 100% moving to Melbourne end of the season.
I was down the South Perth foreshore yesterday at a picnic (not technically a BBQ so take this with a grain of salt) and Don Pyke and Oscar Allen's manager were actually slap fighting in the river. They were screaming, swearing and pulling each others hair. Not sure what this means for his future.

It’s all on wheelo ratings.

Player rating would be an aggregate of all stats so I suppose it’s possible being second ruck could boost it? But I’m not knowledgeable enough to know how PR works.

Bailey is whom I was thinking of he’s very important to your forward movement

Miers had 26 GA last season and runs at 67% disposal eff he’s very good at moving the ball foward
