I'm much more concerned with the trend of playing injured player when they appear not right than I am with Steele being finished.

That's at least Steele, Marshall, Henry twice, Butler, King and Crouch all in the past 2 years who have been rushed back from injuries or played with them and clearly being underdone to a degree that harms team performance.
I'm more concerned about the nature of our midfield set up.

Marshall not really a tap ruckman, Macrae now getting attention, Steele underdone, Windhager playing as a tagger, Garcia defensive minded.

Really seems structured around trying not to lose the first contest rather than expecting to win it. Great if we can bring maximum pressure but horrible if we don't.

Pretty surprised at the number of fans writing off jack steele after a poor game. Yes it looked bad but he's coming off an injury and clearly isn't right. Similar things have happened in the last few years and he's bounced back to some really good form, at 29 I don't see why he can't do that again. Surely he's earned the benefit of the doubt, let's back him in
He’s been poor for more than a year, it’s not just one game.

Not sure 7 or 8 possessions for Tarau is enough to warrant a promotion he needs to be getting 15+ especially if he plays down back with the ball consistently be down there.

7 touches and 2 marks in consecutive weeks is pretty disappointing from your future superstar intercept defender at VFL level.

I know it's early and I'm not saying it was a mistake drafting him or anything like that. Would like to see some more impact soon though. Box is already showing that he's a level above.

Second VFL game of his life and came into the AFL system considered as one of the more raw prospects of his class especially as a KPP

Chill on him

There will be pressure on him and Trav. Not their fault. The club picked them with a plan in place.
But the nature of the beast is that when supporters look at the clubs around them having their top picks showing a lot and one of ours is likely to be a slow burn. There will be grumbling.

He will never be a high stats player. Not ready for afl yet but the signs are there. Saw him have about 5 big spoils and a couple good backs. Also is fast off the marks and tackles hard. He’s gonna be a gun

🤣 he is 18, second game back from a stress fracture in his back, rehabbing was his pre-season.
Disappointing? C’mon now 🤣

He’s been poor for more than a year, it’s not just one game.

It would help if he was fit.

2022 - shoulder
2023 - shoulder
2024 - played with the bad knee
2025 - knee injury

Would be good for the club to do the right thing. He isn't the only one over the last few years that have been rushed back. Needs to be some accountability.

He's been off his game two full seasons now and this season is significantly down on the previous two.

It's not one game. It's a solid trend now and he's 29!!!

Hasn't been A grade for a few years now, hardy because of that game.

Lyon got a bit testy with the reporter at the end of the presser when asked about team selection, and promptly brought it to an end.
The bloke asked him to select and name players for next week after a 70 point thumping
Pretty dumb journo but lots of them
Lyon was honest - we were mauled
Was telling when he said he would’ve liked a leader on field to take accountability for Bont ….think that’s right
Zero on field leaders last night

You know what? It’s done.
Want to go back to Paddy/ Petracca again?
You know what?
We’d do it again
Club doesn’t learn just tries winning sone media credibility when no one gives a toss about a late game last year now so they??
Absolutely don’t discount them not learning anything from the past
Guarantee if that was Hawks that mistake doesn’t occur…

Of course it doesn't. They just picked josh battle out of the side because we wanted to get too smart in the hope of landing a high potential mid in the draft only to end up with an athletic undersized tall fwd with injury concerns.

In other words we let go of the known battle to go draft another who might be battle. In other words a complete unknown. We didn't grab a mid so we just did all of it to take on more risk in the hope we could replace battle. It's madness.

Its terrible.

Lack of leadership and tbh overall professionalism has plagued this club for well over a decade. Steele comes across as an unwilling leader.

Was thinking same ….do you just go “oh bad night “ and right this one off ???
Problem with that is ….multiple years now against Dogs “it’s a bad night”
Either they’ve worked us out big time or their strength (midfield) is just too much for our B graders
Whatever …..don’t think you can toss this in the bin - need to understand quickly where this is breaking down. How were they able to so easily shut down our transition and pick holes at will in our zone ????
Might be an ugly review but some players need some home truths
June 12 re match we’ll see what we’ve learnt
Another 10 goal bashing and you’d have to say Beverage has our measure in the box
Nar l think there's just a type of team and a style of play that we can't match yet. We're a physically smaller team, particularly at the moment, and were able to get run over. We manage to punch above our weight when you look at team demographics but you can't always win.

It’s interesting Cats are big bodied ….we made them look slow
We do same to Blues
Dogs?? Nup they’ve worked out our ball movement tricks
June 12 could be 100 pts…

Does anyone know what the problem with Jack Scrimshaw was at the start of his career with Gold Coast? Had some injuries but also was out of favour iirc

Thinking Arie could follow a similar path to him in terms of development

It seems the mid we have is Macrae , the sooner we get a couple more capable mids the better - spend the war chest on a mid / TDK would be great but I'd rather a couple guys who can find there own ball, the sooner Phillipou get back the better - he might not be the answer but he is better than what we have around Macrae now.

Got to my first saints game of the year last night, and gee I went hope flat.

Tip for the wise… saints v bulldogs can go boring and unwatchable for a number of reasons. I went to one in 2008 and avoided these in person like a plague.

49-46 win in 2010 r6. A win if ever there can be forgettable crap.

The only H&A match between the two teams which was worth it was the great comeback under Richo R6 2015 … ie 10 years ago.

So, other those the H&A matches between the two are borefests.
