Just need about 300 from Smith and 250 from Holmes and i reckon i will be a chance to only be 200 under par!

Everyone has Smith, so I think you're relying on Holmes alone here

(Still better than me, I'm Smith and out so no chance to make ground no matter his score. He could score 300 and i'd still drop rank).

Got Smith as (c) so hopefully drag me back a few extra spots, fingers crossed not many others do.

A lot of chatter on twitter (mainly from Warnie) about rolling lockout and burnout from Fantasy.

If you are going to get rid of rolling lockout (which I agree should go) then you either need
1. The AFL to remove the sub rule. Can't see them doing this anytime soon.
2. AFL Fantasy to introduce a rule whereby if your on-field player is either the starting sub or subbed off (none of this TOG % threshold imo) then your emergency score kicks in.

This is hard, because what if the player subbed off is your uber premium who takes a rest with 10 minutes to go in a blow out after scoring 110?

Has to be TOG% threshold.

It's a really hard problem to solve, we need the Sub to go. I'm still hopeful of a 5 man bench, but suspect that's highly unlikely.

I think what they really need is:

  1. Teams need to name their players in position for first bounce.
  2. Subs need to be named with the teams.
  3. TOG% for Emergencies (10%? 15%?)
  4. Fines for teams that make late changes.

Then perhaps they make it generous and say in the event of a player being sub or subbed out, you take the highest score between the on-field player that was subbed/sub and your emergency.

I just know that with TOG threshold stuff you are going to have players subbed out on 49% TOG counting towards scores and people will still be unhappy (maybe less unhappy though).

that's a bit harsh, especially if there is a legitimate injury concern or illness.

Then you have to try and determine what is and isn't legitimate - which is impossible. At least if there is some detriment to doing so it will stop the games and if you need to make the change you just pay the fine - it's just another cost, like losing a player to an ACL and missing out on that list slot or salary cap for the year, it's unfair but it's happened.

At the end of the day though, the only people that care about team announcements are fantasy players and gamblers.
The AFL isn't going to go out of its way to placate these groups (unless there is significant pressure from the gambling lobby, which there hasnt been so far)

Traded Trainor instead of Clohesy because Clohesy was an emg and wouldn’t lose money. That’s until he’s in at sub at the last minute.

Oh also traded in O’Sullivan whose on 0

There's a little kid out there - crying right now, devastated he doesn't get to see his hero, Oisin Mullin, play. I think the least we can do for that little boy is implement these rules... no other reason.

Can't it simply be if your emg in that position outscores anyone on field in that position you get the emg score?

Saves the need for complex TOG calculations etc. and means building a strong squad overall is much more important

Holmes was BOG last week by a clear margin but he is doing whatever he wants without attention. I think the threat of the tag is always overblown.
He will cop one when we bring him in, will go unopposed all year if we don't.

You're effectively just arguing for a Best 22 system, which is one way to do it.

Supercoach did this measure partially. You now select 23 players on field and your best 22 scores count.

Could be one way to address it.
