I have an idea….

Minimum contract length to generate free agency compensation is 3 years.

Technically we could give Bont 4 million over 2 years without generating compensation for the dogs and therefore not affecting the Oscar compensation.

We could extend Bont for another 2 years on 1 million per year later down the trace.

Would be 6 million over 4 years, we wouldn’t need to trade with the dogs and wouldn’t affect our Oscar Allen compensation.

We’d just need Bontempelli to agree, which would be the hard part.
Didn't realise this was a rule, but what's stopping Brisbane or Hawthorn to do the same thing with Oscar lmao.

Apparnetly no Victorian club is willing to talk Jamarra.

Also, Geelong is in a very different position to us. There are no question marks over their application and standards and culture.

We have questions marks on all 3 and have had to bring players in from another club to help us with those things while we develop young talent.

That is not a club that is currently in a position bring in a trouble person with the issues Jamarra does.

Well Chris Scott said otherwise. They are not afraid of dangerous conversations is exactly what he said.

No question marks over standards nor culture?. Yep. Geel9ng only care about winning football games. Anything else is a distraction they don't allow.

Plenty of Geelong players have gone off the rails. That club doesn't allow that to deter chasing good players with questionable character.

Did you listen to the video i posted?

Jamarras situstion is a mess. He’s about to be stood down by the afl from the sounds of it.

Why do you want our club getting involved in that?

And to top it off, we’re not even short of KPF’s.

Just when I thought an idea couldn’t be dumber than Jack Williams and a 2nd round pick for a 30 year old ruckman, you go and out of yourself with this absolute doozy.

Allen is done, out of form not providing anything. He leaves, it means Pick 2!!!!

Purely from a game perspective groundball, contests have been a failure for us for years. Bont doesnt fix this but it doesnt mean we have games like we had against Carlton that is unfathomable.

Bont's leadership, standards and skills along with Yeo, Baker, Graham and Kelly can help lead the way for Reid, Hewett, Gross, Bo Allan, Hall, Johnston, Chesser, Hutchinson, Dewar, Davis, Greggo.

The flow on effect for the beagles cannot be understated, and I would target Bont just for his final years I would want to make sure he is has some role going into the club post footy - Beagles, NGA or AFL.

I am not saying this is a done deal, but if we can swing it WITHOUT ****ing Allen's Compo then we should do it. PSD please!!!!!
So another 30+ banged up Injury prone midfielder on 1mill a year that plays 60 percent of the time?

Let's do it, he can rotate with Yeo when he's injured. Hopefully we can time them so we at least have 1 footballer on the park out of the 2.

"Dangerous conversation" doesn't mean, "We'll take an addict". "Dangerous conversation" means, "Hey Bailey, that image of you doing lines. Tell me about it?". "I want to know if we're trading in an occasional rec. user, or an addict".

I reckon all the clubs have a good idea. If Jamarra is going too far with it, that's going to leak from the players. Other players, it's a guessing game, and I assume guys like Chris Scott will ask the question direcly.

OK.

Getting seriously tired of idiots not reading g or not being up to understanding English.

I never commented on Eagles chasing JUH.

I never suggested we do.

I commented on Chris Scott's veiw and Geelongs interest. Another Geelong recruit coming in with off field issues.

Something our club would simply not consider doing

So you TOTALLY misunderstood what was posted..

As for JW trade. I don't care either way. Can see positives and negatives with that deal either way. I mentioned Pies interest in JW and our intwrest in Cameron. And potentially what it might look like IF THE CLUB WENT THAT WAY.

Now you and others dont read nor understand and instead have a melt, totally catastrophise and listen to the voices in your heads and get all emotional.

TBF, you have been asked several times about Collingwood's so called in interest in JW.

Also, Scott talked about "Dangerous conversations" before Tom Morris's article on no Vic clubs wanting him.
If the rumours are to be believed, there's a fair chance JUH will be sacked before too long.

Ok, let me make this clear so we can wrap this up

  • I don't think wingman is an immediate or pressing need for us, and under no circumstances should we spend a top 2 pick on a wingman. Before you mention Gaff, 2010 was 15 years ago and that type of player would not be a top 5 prospect in 2025.
  • Our midfield is and remains our most pressing need. We have been trounced in the midfield in all of our games, including by Essendon despite them not being a very good team and missing Caldwell we were -15 in clearances and got destroyed at centre bounce.
  • It's far too early to be making any statements about Gross, Hall, Grego Hutchinson. They might not make it as long term footballers, let alone form an elite midfield. Hell, even Hewett has one half of good midfield under his belt.
  • We aren't trading Archer or Jobe. We'll be building around them, and Williams to an extent as well.

The draft assignment is the same as it has been for the last 3-4 years. Mids,mids, mids. And you can add KPD to that list as well.
McCluggage?
Bailey Smith?

The problem is everyone has an archetype they want to fit to, yet every player bar none plays footy differently. Trends count less than ability- so it's a fallacy to try and predict them too/
If 50/50 then a clearance/stoppage player is a safer pick but not always the better choice typically having a lower ceiling, higher floor if you want to think like that.

That's a wrap.

So weird how with all the media coverage of JUH nobody wants to say what the issue with him is. They are all dancing around it. I can't think of what else it could be other than drugs.
From memory it was alleged he held a gun up to Lobb. Players don’t want him anywhere near the team for obvious reasons.

So many nonsense opinions getting around.

Bring back 30 pages of Jed Anderson.

What's your sensible opinion on his strengths and weaknesses then?
Well, I'm glad you asked. Thankfully I have already shot, edited and produced a video on Jobe's attributes, which you can find here:

To summarise Jobe's key attributes include the following:
  • pack marking;
  • contested work (both in the air and on the ground);
  • set shot kicking from distance (40+ metres);
  • football IQ and nous;
  • elite leading patterns and 2nd efforts;
  • endurance and up-field efforts; and
  • foot skills.

His main weakness was simply consistency game to game.
One game he might kick 4 goals from 17 disposals and 7 marks and the next he might only have 7 disposals and have no effect on the game.
The other one was just his height, however, he only needs to grow a couple of cms to be a legitimately tall key position height.

But, hey, I only watched Jobe play live about 18 times last year, so what would I know?
