I wouldn’t have thought so, but hearing that there are huge problems at the Dogs and much could be revealed at the end of this year

I had a quick look at the Dogs board.

The general consensus seems to be:

• Move JUH on as soon as possible.
• They're convinced that Butters wants to come to them.
• Bont is just positioning to ensure he gets paid closer to his worth, having been paid unders in the past.

If the only result is that they pay the Bont closer to what he's worth (i.e. absolute superstar levels) then I'm just fine with that. He deserves every penny and it takes a lil piece out of their cap.

While I love the fact that a player like Petracca would want to come to the pies, he could of easily come as a free agent at the end of 2022, but he chose to resign at Melbourne.

Getting a player like Bont about for free is a scary thought. Pretty much gives us a Pendlebury-style player for another 4 years to go alongside Daicos, without giving up any capital.

Would instantly give us the opportunity to win multiple premierships over the next few years.

I agree with this.

If a player isn't willing to come to us during their free agency posting, then I think we pass on them. We make a significant financial commitment to the player either way, they should appreciate that we'd want to minimise the additional draft capital commitment to bring them in.

He wasn't interested then, so we aren't not.

Naturally, I hope we get a defender - Without actually watching him play, Charlie McCartin seems to be doing pretty well at Geelong, leading marks in many of the games he has played this year? Does anyone have any further insight into him? Also, are there any other key defenders doing well in the state leagues?
