Basic mistakes and stupid stuff cost us, but the team looked much better organised.

It was a frustrating game, but at least there were some positives .......

The shorter backline was much more successful at defending ground balls and rebounding. Sheezel, Hardeman, and Archer made a big difference here.
Moving Sheezel out of the midfield and cutting Powell's time made us more competitive at stoppages.
Curtis found a new level and killed them.
Xerri looks back to full fitness.
George.
We worked harder and were more aggressive than previous weeks.
Dylan Stephens isn't looking like a complete bust anymore.

So where do we sign the petition for Darcy Tucker to never pull on the jumper again.

Kidding yourself on this one Chad. The expected score was 93…. They hardly missed many ‘easy goals’. The Powell pepper miss was cancelled out by a goal at the stoppage next play.

Back 6 was much better; without Logue and Corr. Is it sustainable? Probably not, however credit where it’s due.

I think it’s also to do with gelling

When we had Pink, Corr and Chom it worked perfectly

Not because either of them are better than each other it’s because the mix was right. With Archer back I think it’s better.

Logue has been miles off it. I think Corr is better 1:1 compared to Dawson but in terms of footy smarts Dawson probably has him covered. I’d still have both in the team.
His 1:1 has been hit and miss this year, and in some ways I don't care, both him and Logue are meant to organise the team defence. Not only have they failed that, they can't even get their own role right. Back to the 2's learn how to do it and there might be a spot available later

Match committee deserve some credit on this one. Many of us - not incorrectly IMO - identified how little fight the midfield put up last week and expected that to be the area cut to send a message. Feels like the MC saw instead that a young group deserves chances to learn and the older group got a whack. I'd argue the outcome was ideal apart from the win.

We ran as a combined unit 311kms

Puts us in the top 5 all time meters run comparative to all other games according to the tracker.

I’d say that’s more of a modern balance in that squad than we’ve had in the last 3 years
That screams unsustainable tbh. Was apparent the boys put a shift in but were let down by their skill level, particular from the veterans.

Can't see them being able to back that up effort with a 5 day break.

Back 6 was better because of Archer and Hardeman.

would you leave logue and corr out and play pink instead of dawson?

I said in the Comben thread that, now that we have seen several different back 6 combos this year, what I'd like to see is this;

Archer - Corr - Pink
Hardeman - Comben - McDonald

well, I agree that Daniel probably doesn't merit a game at this stage but I think playing 3 talls (and yes that includes Comben) hasn't really served us very well. I'd probably switch McDonald for a running player since he's playing tall anyway.

That’s the worst backline - where’s the rebound coming from.
Think over the last 2 years we’ve played our best games with only 2 kpds

I could live with swapping archer and lmac round, then let Hardiman and Archer distribute more, they have the cleanest disposals,

Personally I dont want to see Danials anywhere near that backline again, he has pretty much booked a life membership in my whipping boy troupe. he booked a temporary seat at the table round 2 but has all but cemented the position since. Surely he has to be in massive "elephant in the room" discussions in the inner scrotum as well??

When the game is hanging in the balance, we need a player who will stand up and make the difference and lead the team to victory .
Our players just don't seem to have the mentality to do it. Look at that loss to Eagles late last year
Instead of wanting to own the moment, they are all overwhelmed by it.
And when the time comes to be that difference maker, it'usually results in a mistake that costs us dearly rather than a moment of inspiration.
Its quite bizarre. They are all talented , they should have inherent confidence, but they don't
Rawling's fault yeah?

Yep, it blew up our draft hand last season and has blown up our future draft hand.

For what? He offers nil.

Sheez , goater or Powell as a rebounder for Lmac or one of the talls would be more balanced.
Archer isn’t a rebounder

I think we all felt it watching the game, but Larkey and Zurhaar missing some crucial (and fairly easy) set shots cooked us in the end.

Well, that and our routine terrible Q1 where we give the opponent a 3+ goal head start.
We will continue to get the mental melting and lapses by senior players.

We absolutely have to stamp out the entire team switching off inside a game.

Chad for months or even years SW and other posters have been saying the reason we lose games is because of our list manager.

Now when he actually admits what is going on its fair to call him out for it.

And Happy Meal throwing away 50’s
And Jy thinking he’s Lachie Neale and not doing simple things
And LDU being a statue, A deer in head lights with the ball
And if Camembert could hit the goal with no pressure
