Don't think anyone was saying he is the answer to our midfield woes.

Garcia got pulled early because he was basically a witches hat. We've been worried about Steele with his effort and body language for how long now? Yeah we might get Pou back but we need more then him to change our fortunes.

We can't expect something to change if we will roll out the same midfield every time. Ross put a few blokes on notice during the mid week press conference, so I'd expect some changes. Boxshall had another good game in the VFL and Tarau had a good game as well.

If we are getting beaten easily wouldn't you rather get games into these highly rated kids?
A midfield of Pou, Trav, Garcia (yes), Windhager, Nas, Boxshall, Henry, Wilson in 3 years might well change our fortunes with 50/100 games each.

If Ross picks a relatively inexperienced player to play an important role in the midfield against the reigning premiers & he performs like "a witches hat"... that's a selection error.

Midway through the second term Ross should have been shuffling the magnets but he spat the dummy at Garcia & dragged him instead. That's poor coaching & a deplorable interpersonal skills.

I don't know what a good coach looks like... I'd have to sit in the box & go to every training session & have have done that over the life of many coaches but from the outside, as a layman he looks like a shit coach. As a character & a human being, I think he's total D!ckwad.

Nasiah is that one. He’s been good from the get go and only getting better. He wasn’t physical until this year but from the start his kicking was so good it was impacting games for us.
And now he’s added goal kicking and mid-field as strings to his bow.
We CANNOT afford to lose him.
The guy is a special talent.

That’s why so many of his past players speak so incredibly highly of him 🙄

As I Alluded to... I'm in no position to to know explicitly but from my vantage point he's a cretin. Let's see how fares in the next season & a half with his "unfinished business" I would love to be proven resounding wrong. I want nothing more than the success of the Saint Kilda Football Club.

I believe he is our most valuable player & one on the league's best talents. There are some special players out there but I think he's up there with the best.. I would be devastated to see him go to another club

Ok l just finished watching the replay to catch up on all this drama.....

I'm not really seeing any tbh.
Did people expect us to win or something??

Terrific endeavour for the whole game. A good helping of structural and tactical deficiencies for Ross and his group to sort out, a lot of which is to blame for some of our other issues. A smattering of poor execution, but not over the top. Some shit umpiring at exactly the wrong time as normal for us. Beaten soundly by the reigning premiers who were better all game surprise, surprise. The end.

I thought Keeler was good in the ruck late. He's worth persisting with but the need to lock him in the gym for a long while.

It's really sunk in lately just how ****ed this game has become. It's basically now just playing to the umpires instructions rather than a sport governed by rules that the players all know.

It was one of the more bizarre umpiring displays. Surely the competition would rather close matches than this match fixing to create strong Northern sides or fill umpire pockets with betting money or what ever the **** that was.

The head office should be instructing umpires to pull back on the calls and let games run as much as possible. The sport is barely watchable if you don't follow a winning club. Watching neutral games is as frustrating as watching your own side lose as umpires seem to have an extreme influence over outcomes more often than not now. Not sure if it's corruption, incompetent or orchestrated scripting for the AFL but whatever it is it's a blight.

It will be interesting to see what he looks like through the midfield more regularly. The only thing that he doesn't rate equal or ahead of all the absolute superstar players is that he's winning less contested ball due to the role he plays. In every other stats he's equal or ahead of the absolute elite players.

Probably our best bet at a Brownlow. He really can do it all. Human highlight reel.

He's the best player we've drafted in 25 years. Nasiah is the messiah, the superstar we've been looking for.

If you support the retention of the father-son rule, you support St Kilda having a poor midfield.

We were better and more competitive. Made a small difference to the scoreboard.

Somehow it was this week Lyon threw Caminiti forward.

Howard will be better for the run.

We're 3-4 with the fixture about to get easier. Let's continue to reward youth but let's not think the season is over already. Unless you want that high draft pick for an elite mid that will go to another club anyway because of reasons.

That's a hot take. Suggest you listen to majority of players who have been coached by Ross including those at Freo.

If Garcia wasn't responding to the criticism and not playing to our structure then you need to pull him. We had first possession from a stoppage 12-4 in the first quarter but they dominated the clearance. Tells me that Hugo who was playing the forward mid wasn't adhering to structure.

But yeah let's blame Ross.. there's still room for sprays in the game and I think Hugo is someone who'd take it pretty well.

It's an interesting discussion. A player gets instruction before a game and doesn't follow them. He gets reminded of the instruction at the first break and still doesn't follow them. At what stage should a coach enforce a consequence?

Garcia will almost certainly find himself out of the team this week. That is fine. He will learn and return a better footballer.

Certainly interesting, but ffs give a fit player a half of football to get it right before a tactical sub- or move him to another position, a much better look instead of panic stations by a coach..there were many players stuffing up in the game before half time...and beyond. Anyway Hugo will be good player for us as he matures.

Panic stations lol, better to let the midfield be trounced unchanged for another half an hour yeah?

Interesting to see players and pundits back the move, may have a little more idea than some on here.

The only way is to reduce the number of umpires. It won't happen.

I'm not really concerned with how the coach looks to the outside world. The scoreboard was a bad look as well.

The sub is a silly rule, and we should just go back to four on the bench IMO.

Not so much the coach, it's how the club looks to the rest of the sport world. I agree about the four on the bench.

So youre happy to say youd need more evidence about his coaching credentials because you havent seen it personally but your happy to pot his interpersonal skills.

Do you know for a fact that Hugo isnt the sort to take a spray and a subbing the right way, as a message?

Some blokes dont take a spray well, some respond by taking the bit between the teeth. Im tipping Ross would know alot better than you what response he'll get.
