So what I said was right?
It will be lineball, I expect Tehan to get back in purely through apathy but it’s been an absolute shit fight. The LNP dirt unit has been operating well before the election was called and now we’re getting Dan Everywhere which is incredible given he’s been invisible for years.

The Democrats had great support in the district.
Liberal party had run on the coattails of Malcolm Fraser.
But since then the farmers have had less kids,
The farms have got bigger, so less ownership and more ex city people have joined the community.
Plus they are spending x4 amount on advertising here and corangamite is a sign of panic.
Never thought I'd see the day, but hey here we are.

Not sure about the Democrats having much support - always been a one way street, but what is funny is watching it turn on its head and the absolute fear of it being lost revealing some desperate tactics

I've mentioned a few times here, the advertising in Corangamite has been significant from what I've seen, but if anything I'd say it's been less than last election where Stephanie Asher (Libs) was everywhere (and I mean everywhere - https://7news.com.au/politics/liber...board-driven-past-anzac-day-service-c-6577906) and Labor still took a 6.5% swing

Arana Hills office, defaced again overnight, thats twice in one week.

A lot of displeasure with him, as he has not done a lot for them since elected.

Isn't he unpopular there anyway?

I've always believed that it was the likes of Samford that save his bacon.

If he's unpopular in Samford, that's trouble.

I think Dyson's a weak favourite.

Dyson is fresh-faced, presentable, (relatively) passionate, and apparently offers a way forward.

That sort of politician shakes the apathy out of some voters, because now they know they can change their electorate for the better.

EDIT: Apathy has also kept Dutton in Dickson, so I understand very much. But Dutton's actions (disappearing during Cyclone Alfred, explicitly NOT wanting to live anywhere near Dickson upon becoming PM), plus his higher profile, have reduced some of that apathy. Ali Frances is a decent candidate, but the Teal campaign hasn't been well organised.

So I still see Dutton as a weak favourite.

Ellie Smith is a strong candidate… I donated to her

Mmm. Anyone who believes it is okay to have a Nuclear Power Plant, is freaking cuckoo.

Here's the thing;

There's actually nothing inherently wrong with nuclear power. It's "fine", and for some countries it does represent a good energy option for them.

However, it makes absolutely no sense for Australia specifically. We have no need for it, no pre-existing industry to support it, no infrastructure to implement it, and no economic justification for establishing all of those to enable it.

Regardless of her credentials (and of course she'd be better than Dud-ton), apparently the teal campiagn's make some mistakes:

  • Making their colour maroon makes them look like ALP-lite
  • Improper/no preferencing on their preference cards
