We are a smaller club that needs to take it's chances in order to get ahead.

What's our point of difference? As the President and others have said, we want to be the number 1 club for Indigenous talent in the country. We have invested greatly in this area of the club. We exchange Indigenous gifts with the opposition before every home game. There's a reason why we do all this stuff. It's not just for fun.

We have strong leaders and role models for Jamarra on and off the field. I think Ross would be a better coach for him than Bevo. That's just the feeling I get.

I'm not convinced that the situation is as cut and dry as has been reported around JUH. As has been alluded to, there are mental health issues as well that he's working through.

We are at the forefront of mental health awareness in the AFL with Spud's Game and the legacy that Danny left behind. Consider that and our commitment to being the standout club for our Indigenous brothers and sisters.

Let's see a forward line of Max King and Jamarra Ugle-Hagan in 2026. It's time to be bold.

The bloke doesn't just have a shit attitude. He's been AWOL. Not showing up to work and not showing any interest in doing so.

Reports are that we were interested last year but after doing some research, the club snuffed out that idea. Rightfully so. Should not be going anywhere near him

Was told this a couple weeks ago but didn't want to report something I was not 100% on but someone with port connections gave me some Goss that saints and port have an agreement that we have a "handshake" agreement with port. Nas for Butters. Pretty much a straight swap but we are adamant Nas is gonna stay and we are happy to trade for Butters.

This may be considered old news now that Jay Clark is saying we could be keen but I just want to be a part of things now.

So

Nas for Butters straight swap

OR

Pick 6 (currently) + 2 x Future 1st for Butters if we retain Nas. Giving 3 first rounders including a top 10 pick for Butters seems unlikely.

Not sure either deal really satisfies but at-least we won’t be going backwards if we lost Nas and fixing a hole on our list in midfield.

So far Nas has been very durable, can’t say the same about Butters injury record also 2-3 years older. Imagine the progress Nas could make in the next 2-3 years.

Also the biggest issue here is if Butters actually wants to play for St Kilda, otherwise he will just wait until next year and leave to the dogs via FA

You wouldn’t want to trade Nas and a first for Butters? No disrespect at all to Nas but I would be jumping for joy if him leaving meant securing Butters. Bergman would slot right into Nas role and we would gain the best player in the comp when it comes to filling our biggest weakness.

Butters is better now but Nas looks like he is projecting to be an absolutely elite freak. He could legit be the best player in the comp in a few years, Butters is a top 20 mid but he's a type that are a lot more common.

Like giving up Buddy for Ben Brown.

Looking at it in isolation, Butters is the exact type of player and character we are crying out for. He’s a competitor in every sense of the word and if we reflect on our last 3 performances the lack of midfield resistance has been on display for all to see.
Not only is he a top 10 midfielder in the comp, he’s a campaigner and he hates losing. He will challenge any group to be better and leaves it out there every week.

100% is a need. Just not for NAS. Just have to work out how to sign him. Fly his family here for every match, let him go home for a break during the week once a month or something.

Butters isn’t a common type. He’s averaging 30 touches with 15 contested. They’re Dangerfield type numbers. No kick out stats in his numbers either, he’s already what you’re saying NWM will be. Nas looks like a gun but Butters is top tier.

I think everyone (Cal Towmey included) is just taking the opportunity to pile on us now that we’ve lost three in a row.

That our performance might sway NAS’s decision.

There’s an industry-wide narrative that no player would want to come to or stay with the Saints.

Like somehow teams like Carlton are more attractive prospects than us.
The majority of media are useless , unfortunately there is always crap being pushed by ex players of big clubs.

Carlton and Essendon have been terrible in recent decades but people like Lloyd are wanting to push historical success and crowd sizes . Why would you want to go to a North or St Kilda etc etc

Bias and agenda based commentary they don’t want to see the smaller sides succeed.

Makes me sick, in particular when in relation to Carlton and Essendon who cheated their way to past successes and have dined off it for ever .

Lloyd talking about TDK, not compromised much with his brother being involved in their list management.

I feel we have a real chance with getting Butters - I don't care who else they are talking about , Butters is a midfielder we need and with our young guys coming through like Phillipou and Toby we will be in good shape for the future.

If we are able to recruit Butters I will run 3 laps of Linton St buck naked in celebration ... I just cant see it happening. I dont mean to rain on your parade, but its the same reasoning we havent been able to attract the 20 other top names we have approached.

The entire industry know as a club we are 'bottom feeders' dependant on AFL handouts and thats not going to change until we finally win a couple. Waving the salary cap $$$ around works with players who cant attract that money else where, but a player of Butters esq is going to attract all sorts off field and retirement packages from the wealthier clubs. Its niave to believe top line players income just stems from salary cap payments, we just cant compete with the whole packages the wealthier clubs offer. Let alone the greater chances of onfield sucess they offer.

The AFL is a multi million business with all levels of corruption going on, and each club is a mini eco system of that. As a club we know that, but we just dont have the resources or benefactors to compete.

A perfect case in point will be Worpel, he will end up at Geelong. Just because thats his home town, their continued sucess and Geelong have that many off field financial rorts running the salary component will be chicken feed.

Feel free to call me out if I am off the mark as I haven't done an in depth comparison on early vision but Nas just gives me very strong Bont vibes.
Bont has a lot better contest and clearance ability as well as being able to play as a pseudo key forward. The only similarity is the movement and classy foot skills imo

I think Nas is at the point where it’s hard to find a comparison - he’s already niched down to being that elite line-breaking kick with elite movement whilst also being quite tall. Maybe Ed Richards but there’s still some differences there too

I reckon in a couple of years instead of comparing Nas to others, others will be compared to Nas
