There were many problems.

The main ones were
1. We got smashed in the middle
2. Melbourne transitioned the ball too easily.
3. We were forced to kick long because we couldn't find an open man.
4. Draper, Ryan and co were too big slow to match up on Pickett and co.

2 and 3 were caused by being too slow.
Probably 4 as well.

1 was caused by Gawn
Talls weren’t why we lost. Mids were why we lost.

Disagree.

Mids got smashed, but we still could have won.

Melbourne transitioned the ball too easily. If we stopped that, we could have won.

Watch the first quarter vs crows and we stopped all there short passes and forced them down the line.

It was the opposite vs Melbourne.

I will be watching for this vs St Kilda.

Hate to burst your bubble, but we are 4-3 with the second easiest draw in the comp so far... nothing I've seen this year suggests this list, or this coach are capable of top 4, let alone top of the table...

I hope I'm wrong, but so many people are getting carried away off the back of one decent win against the Crows at home. I'd just like to see us beat St Kilda as a starting point. One week at a time please..
I think we've turned the corner and will finish top 4. Lets see who's right in time.

is anyone else sick of this guys shit

The biggest in for me this week is Chapman that was missed against Melbourne.
He’s a medium sized brute that is also clean and a calming presence down back. Very underrated season.
Would’ve definitely played on Pickett

Plus Wagner adds a bit of pace and options for the defence. Will be a big difference this week.

They both played last week..

Yep - missing all 3 of chaps, wags and walks was a huge issue. 2oo3 back (any 2) makes a big difference.

Then add in Jackson and we are a much better team. Also v Melbourne Darcy was very underdone.

Saints are an up and down team, but we should win this by 3+ goals

I’m worried the team’s too tall, but Docklands provides perfect conditions for a tall side.

Walker is a big loss.

Should win and win well, but like the Melbourne game this has classic Dockery written all over it.

Coming off a solid(ish) win, against a team under the pump who we should beat if we're half as good as we claim to be, under lights on the big stage Friday night. All things pointing to us arriving and winning. Therefore very likely we butcher the whole scenario and lose.

We've seen this movie so many times before. I'm trying to stay positive, but when you know the ending already it's hard to expect something different.

We're fielding a 10-15% better team than we did against Melbourne—mostly by virtue of Luke Jackson being in the side, but Darcy and Young are both improving week on week after long stints on the sidelines + interrupted pre-seasons. Also Chappy makes our defence a lot better. Overall, a very similar team.

To quote Andor: calibrate your enthusiasm.

I don't understand the narrative. We don't lose EVERY SINGLE game that we start favourites in
No but that we lose a truckload of games we SHOULD win. And coming off all the cool aid positive talk the club always spins, it hurts more.

I miss the ruthlessness of the Ross days. that's the only time in our 30 years we've been uncompromising and played a consistent brand. Sure we still lost games, but the difference between our best and worse was narrower that what it's otherwise been.

twice this year JL has had to publicly state we werent tough enough. Wish being tough could just be part of our brand as a whole.

People also forget Melbourne was two weeks on the road with 6-day breaks.

I think we have this one. Yes StK are the under the pump of the week, but they don't have a midfield as good as ours.

We have a good balanced side.

ppl carry on like Lyons always had us winning. no way . Just remember his winning averages the last 4 years at the Dockers
2016 18%
2017 36%
2018 36%
2019 43%

no he was not the messiah.

The good news is that if we drop this game, we’ll probably knock off the Pies next Thursday against the odds. I’m hoping we can just do both instead.

His winning % dropped once we cleaned out the list and underwent a full rebuild?
