Same reason Bob Murphy was moved on, same reason certain other coaches were moved on - JLo wants no competing qualified experienced voices.

Don't worry, someone will be on here quick blaming the stoppage coach vacancy for the Saints game result, as if JLo doesn't have any responsibility for anything.

Curley is also one of the most experienced coaches available in WA at the moment, not a bad candidate for the oppo role.

I get what you are saying, and yes I would love an oppo coach that could draw on the likes of Buckley/Ratten/Cameron/Simpson/Sanderson/Rawlings - but ultimately a WA based team role doesn't have anywhere near the salary or career advantages that the same oppo coach role has for a Melbourne based team.

Few if any have ever oppo coached Rosscoe Pekoe well the week after he was front page news for negative baking his own players.

Curley can come up with all the strategy he wants but it is up to the senior coach to implement it. I would also assume his role is more looking at what the opposition does and what they will do to counter us rather than coming up with strategy to beat the opposition.
