I tought Schultz was fantastic last night his work rate defensively was BOG, he caused at least 3 turnovers in midfeld and near defensive half that led to scoring shots. Many other players missed set shots as wel as him, I think the issue was last nite many of our shots were beyong 35 metres as opposed to previosu weeks wher we were closer in. That is credit to Geelong to forcing us to do that in their defensive setup. All in all agreat game against a great team .. stacks up well for remaidner of the year.
Yep Schultz was great in his first game back two weeks after a hammy, and has been one of our best performers all year. Ridiculous to see potshots on him

Disappointing result to say the least, but we could (and probably should) have won, but for bad kicking.
One strength of Charlie West is straight kicking - we'll most likely see next week.
It will be interesting to see who gets rested for the Freo game.
I was thinking Checkers might be one, but he was easily our best forward last night.
We missed McStay - he makes a big difference.

We move on - next!

The free against Elliott for nothing...Wtf.
Quaynor was huge in that last two minutes.

Dunstall of all people saying Hill’s tackle was ok, on the knee not below, and we were hard done by after the Elliott call says a lot. That the Geelong had hands on head thinking he’d given away the free to Elliott says even more.

Bailey Smith cut us up all night. He's a cert for the 3 votes and Dangerfield gets the 2 votes for his Q4 effort. As you said, he made a bee line for a few loose balls and our guys flinched.
What exorbitant price did the Cats cough up for Smith?
I’m sure it was fair.

The umpiring was poor, but there is no AFL conspiracy. It’s just a figment of your imagination.

Umpiring was terrible but not the reason we lost.

Got way too comfortable and away from our DNA under McRae which is take the game on.

Went into our shells until 3 minutes to go.

A few players out of form and fitness, felt like we were a couple down all night.

The umpiring was the reason that Geelong were still in the game. It happens in other games not just ours. The trailing team gets a massive run of free kicks.

I think it happened in the Bulldogs v Carlton game and there have been others.

I will ask the question when has Rosebury been "poor" and it's been in our favour. One game will suffice. I will wait.

I thought Coaching needed to plan for 2 things - Dangers influence and their inevitable 4th QTR surge.
In a game of inches, Danger was always going to be the difference.
On at least 2 occasions he extracted and handed off inside to a running player who goaled- conceding his grunt but covering the outside runners would have been a logical way to blunt his influence.
A lesson learnt.

You know it’s bad when dunstall thinks something against Collingwoods is incorrect

Perhaps people on here can now stop saying we are going to win by 10 goals.
You're right.

We should have predicted
15 goals for Port
1 for dogs
5 for Sydney
9 for Brissy
7 for Essendon.
and a 3 point loss for Cats.

It's been disgraceful tipping really.

I don't usually blame umpiring, but sorry it was the reason we lost. From the ridiculous call by a boundary umpire, who isn't there to look at goal line decisions, making a call he thought it was touched, to the Bobby tackle to the 14 to 4 free kick count in the last quarter.
These umpires wanted to insert themselves into the game, and make it about themselves, cost us the game 100%...

McRae got out coached last night.

Bombing it long to Geelong defenders who just dropped back and dominated was really frustrating.

Mcstay is a massive loss in games played like that last night.

Umpires were a disgrace but we had our chances and should have won.

Degoey let us know at some stage that your still an AFL quality footballer.

I’m frustrated. However, we gave them a 3 goal head start.

Moore had 2 quite simple errors in our backline which resulted in 2 goals.

Nick falls over running back from a center clearance. Goal.

Those are the ones that I just remember. I felt we were too fumbly last night and it showed.
One in the last where Miho takes a contested mark anbout 30-35 out and DeGoey runs through him right as he lands, resulting in miho dropping the ball and mark not awarded.

Lot of talk about the Hill run down and the boundary ump incorrectly calling touched, but what about the throw in the centre square from the cat on his stomach to set up one of their last goals. There were minimal players around him, so I assume ump should have seen it.
Totally agree. Shocking mistake by the umps and cost us badly. Very hard to see how that could have been missed.

I think David King is fair towards the Pies, and he called it out on live national media.
Think the umpires will be pressured into giving us a reasonable deal in the West.
These fwts are not cheats.
They are simply incompetent and egocentric, each umpire believing that he has briliant vision and can overrule others. I believe this is what happened when that Phillips a**hole ruled Schultz's goal as touched.
When their previous incompetent decisions are called out, they have no option but to tilt their incompetence back in the opposite direction in the vain hope of covering their tracks.
“A reasonable deal out in the west” sounds like a significant upgrade after they stole the game off us in Perth last year for giving the ball to the umpire as efficiently as possible.

1. We are 6-2 with the hardest draw so far.
2. We lost to a top 4 contender by 3pts and clearly had our chances to win.
3. We are yet to play any of eagles, north or rich like most clubs

the boys are having a great season
It's easy to lose perspective at times. If you asked me at the start of the year, I would have said 6-2 with our draw is a great result.

Needed some time to reflect on this one.

I'm sad for Crisp that he couldn't have the fairytale ending in his record breaking game, but no one will begrudge him for missing. The late comeback was admirable, so our "never say die" attitude is still there which is a great sign.

What ultimately cost us is giving Geelong a 3-goal head start, and allowing them to dominate much of the last quarter. It came our expense, but Geelong's ball movement and transition game was excellent. It sliced through our defence multiple times and caught us on the back foot.

We need to move on quickly rather than lick our wounds for too long with the short turnaround into the Fremantle match. Given the short turnaround I expect to see another player or two managed. Wouldn't be surprised to see JDG among that pile of players that might be managed/rested.

How do you plan for that from Danger?
