Yep can't blame us while he was here, still should have had more midfield time but he wasn't getting a Lions share while those other mids were there, and it's not as if you could play JPK anywhere else. The trade for me is the issue but I'm not sure realistically we were getting more, he (and the Crows) bent us over a barrel. I just hope we get them back somewhere down the track.
Dawson would have had no say at all in what the Crows offered. His sin was in saying yes, then reneging. Wife and family pressured him. Simples.

Looking at Essendon, they're much like us in the sense that they're either on or not. There's no inbetween. The team that wins will win big i think.

Like us they have been decimated with injuries too. Surely Jordan goes to Merrett just stop him you stop Essendon

Yeah don't blame Dawson and the club was in between a rock and a hard place so to speak. We all know pick 14 or whatever it was was stupidly unders but the club tried and Adelaide held all the aces. I have more of an issue with the Mitchell trade at the time actually weirdly.

Really annoyed at Melican. Last thing we need is KP players missing unnecessary games.. now we'll have to reshuffle probably Hamling down back and pistol Pete back up forward.. frustrating
What did he do wrong ! the ball was kicked towards him , the other rat was running with his back to the ball. We really need great fans like you

I hope we don't reshuffle our fwd line to replace Melican in defence. Our fwd line somehow worked together, Hamling played a great defensive role, Francis looked dangerous with his leads, Melican applied physicality while Warner & Cleary provided pressure. We need Hayward to lift & that's it'll be a good solid fwd 6 moving forward. Each player with defined roles, maybe a tad slow but if the 3 smaller players can apply pressure I think it could be successful.
Hamling was there to help with the two of the best league's interceptors in Taylor and Buckley - I don't think there is nearly the same threat from Essendon. Rather you probably want true forwards taking on one of the more porous defences in the comp.

He was going for the ball, you don't run in to a contest with your hands and arm down
They were both running towards the ball with intent to punch it away (Bedford forward, can't tell with Melican). Bedford won the race and both kept running. Could/should Melican have pulled out? Possibly/probably enough to not hit him in the head. Most likely a 3 or 4 week holiday.

We offered him multiple variations of contract (just like we did Chad), we offered him more money than the crows.
After his first couple of (injured) years, he eventually played more on the wing and no doubt as our midfield (which due to players like JPK had no/very limited room for players like Mills and Heeney) changed Dawson would've been rotated through it.
Swans did everything they could to keep him

Fair fair true just sometimes wish we backed the truck up big time , I probably overrate him, just liked him

yep, you're right.. I could hand pick games from the 1950's too..

fact is that Horse has used the 'tag' to greater effect and with more versatility than any other coach over the last 15 years.
But sorry, I forgot that Horse was a shit coach and this board is revelling in it.

Nah he wasn't shit , just meant he didn't invent it like some revolutionary thinker who never thought of stopping a player in defence with a forward tag that's all.

Splitting hairs.

Besides most of this board love longmire and would probably take him tomorrow

all good

should be able to walk down the footpath and stick an arm out I reckon

Not blaming Dawson is un-Australian.

What do you think Lewis could do going flat out to get the ball , it's a real worry on here at times

The blame is on everyone. Would he have stayed if he was in the midfield in Sydney full time don’t know. Do I blame Dawson yeah but it’s everyone not just him

Was great to see the team face similar pressure they came up against the week before, but this time absorb it and control the game.
I felt in the 2nd half we were watching Corey Warner grow as an AFL player and take an important step. Not sure why he was subbed TBH, but it worked out well.

What can you say about Sam Wicks? He looks like he was born to play down back. Incredible and they maestro Rampe still has it. He just really gets up for games against Toby.

We will miss Melican for a while unfortunately. Just unfortunate that he got him high.

Overall it seemed closest to a team effort with everyone doing their little bit. Bring on the Bombers.

So on the injury front it could be Adams, Mills and Fox back in the red and white in some capacity in the next 2-3 weeks.

Curious how Hanily was in the VFL. See he booted 3 with low disposals. How was he and the other guys that might be up for selection?

He wouldn't be any worse than Hanily

What can I say about this game? I'm glad the lads dug deep given the Giants tried to get themselves back into the game but fair dinkum, we couldn't buy a free nor avoid given away absolute junk free kicks, some of which resulted in Giant goals.

Warner solid, JMac albeit makes silly errors at times and has been on my hitlist the last few weeks was solid. Rampe awesome effort.

May 3, 2025: Sir Dane Rampe is cooked. Needs to go teach guys how to play in the VFL. Retire at year end.

May 5, 2025: Sir Dane Rampe is superb. Needs to continue to teach guys how to play in the AFL. Extend.

Ah how I love Bigfooty. Never change.

was my favourite player.. ever since Jetta (big fan of JPK and ................... as well)

The saying “ you are only as good as your last game” comes to mind.
He has been terrible & concerning. Not so much for his play but I thought we really lacked leadership with the 12 unanswered goals against GC.
That was his last game before May3rd.
