Henry Smith still in protocol's?
Kai didn't give me the impression he's straight back last night. Talked about couple of weeks, not next week...
AFL app says:Nearing the end of the game I asked the question did Oscar come off in the 2nd half, IIRC he was at every centre bounce/ball up/throw in.
Can you get that sort of info anywhere Grasshopper17 ?
Hipwood is not in the forward arc 100% of the time in any game so no real difference. I just think Fort is not a forward which is what he would need to be for most of the game. I don't think there is perfect solution so happy to roll with what we go with. You lose Hipwood up forward if you don’t bring in Fort

It's almost at the point he might need a VFL game just to make sure his fitness and confidence is right. Really had no consistency this yearNo point in bringing kai back this week. Might as well give him a break to get a much confidence in his body as possible.
He will be critical later in the year.
Good griefFoot injury. out for 10 weeks.
It’s certainly a good opportunity to see if they can both be productive in the same team because our rucks will be up against Gawn the following week. Having them both working in tandem against Gawn could be a smart play - provided we don’t lose something more valuable in other parts of the ground.I'd almost be inclined to have Fort ruck and Big O play forward/relief. Give Oscar a lighter load for one round.
Yes, totally agree, as Day is a forced out with no timeline on return it might be time to see how the two rucks go. They are both accomplished rucks but I think Big O is the better forward and a more restful run up front might help him with a lighter recovery load. Day has been improving but hasn't reached any great heights and if this setback lingers then he may struggle to up for the finals. It’s certainly a good opportunity to see if they can both be productive in the same team because our rucks will be up against Gawn the following week. We already know how the two rucks go. It does cost us run and neither guy up forward is great either. If it is a more long term injury then we should try and fin something else that works and has the potential to be a better option than Day. No better game to give that a go than North who are one of the weaker teams we will play.Yes, totally agree, as Day is a forced out with no timeline on return it might be time to see how the two rucks go. Well, unless we plan to play Big O and Fort together for six weeks, Gallop had better have his boots ready.Day out for 6 weeks.

With Day now listed as 6 weeks I reckon they will give Gallop a run this week with him sharing relief ruck with Hippy.Gallop will be fine as a pinch hit in the ruck, looked decent against Moyle who is a brute
No fear, Will Ashcroft will lend him his.Well, unless we plan to play Big O and Fort together for six weeks, Gallop had better have his boots ready.
Poor fella. The story of the second half of his career continues.Day out for 6 weeks.

I do think the North game is a perfect game to try something new out. We know how the two ruck combo goes, we can always revert to it for the Melbourne and Hawks game if trying Gallop is no bueno. With Day, Smith and to a much lesser extent Ryan not available for an extended time what will Fagan do.
I have been a 1 ruck person for many years.
However, i would go with the experienced Fort over another young KPF in Gallop for the North, Demons and Hawks games.
Play Gallop as ruck forward in the VFL to get more experience and confidence in that position for those games.
See how he performs knowing there may be a spot in the AFL for a F/R before Fagan make the decision.
As long as they don't play Hippy in the ruck i will be happy. A few ruck contests in the forward line are fine but that's all.
Next year maybe he can do that job.
We only had 1 position with no real depth and that was forward/ruck.
The next 6 weeks will be interesting
Day being out for extended time does not change my opinion of what may happen.I do think the North game is a perfect game to try something new out. We know how the two ruck combo goes, we can always revert to it for the Melbourne and Hawks game if trying Gallop is no bueno.
Regardless of Gawn dominating, we should still account for Melbourne without too many issues, so again, it isn't a bad run of two games to try something new.
I am a bit doubful we can match the Hawks run with two rucks in the team.
Day would be back for the Geelong game if all goes right with his rehab.
Fort in isn't a terrible option, he is a decent ruck and provides a strong body up forward but I do hope we try something new.
I believe the team selection panel will be conservative and go with known quantities which means either Gardiner stays in and Hippy pinch hits or Gardiner for Fort.
Last year was the same issues with our key forwards in general which is why we threw Gardiner forward. Looking at the stats, Gallop hasn't been quite as good as Morris as was in the VFL early last year but he isn't a million miles away either. No reason why we couldn't get 'lucky' again. We only had 1 position with no real depth and that was forward/ruck.
