I very much believe that Dawson is a better winger than inside mid.
Also in no way was it our fault that he left.

Yes it was. Even though Dawson's girlfriend wanted to go home. We were not offering as much. And more importantly, we were not willing to move him to mid/forward, a role he played so well in the reserves, but we're going to leave him at HB. He didn't want to play HB. Which is fair enough as he was almost our best player. Sometimes our recruiting and coaching staff have been pretty short sighted.

He absolutely dominated as a Mid/Forward in the reserves. One day I saw him go into the centre Against GWS on their home turf. He had 10 disposals in 10 minutes. Turned the game. We were 3 down and ended up 1 up after 10 minutes. He went forward and took 3 great marks and kicked 3 goals. Into the mids again, 7 more disposals. I think we were 6 up at the 3/4 mark.

But the powers that be wanted to turn him into a HB.

I'm a fan of McLean but his two biggest weaknesses militate against him being an effective defender - lack of agility and acceleration/closing speed. Nope. Forward or second ruck he can be good with his strengths.

i agree with this but rory lobb and heath grundy are both incredibly slow and lacking in agility...

I actually find the term "rat" kinda endearing.

Roberts averages 15 uncontested possies a game and is 6th in the league for turnovers, he isn’t under that much pressure. He tends to turn it over when he is indecisive and unsure and has too much time. but he is still developing imo
