West AdelaideMany questioned his AFL role, last year .....however the unquestioned improvement in Curtin's game in year 2, says we have a Dawson clone of equal abilityShown some very good glimpses amongst some quiet games. Agree a breakout game is coming and congrats to Nicks and the coaches for playing him each week even when having multiple sub 10 possession games in a row. A big sign of confidence in the young fella which would be appreciated by Dan.
Very likely he extends for 2-3 years before the start of next year. Weagles are diabolical. Assuming Allan and Reid leave they may end up with picks 1,2 (FA compo), another first round pick AND more for Reid. Can’t imagine they would do it but wonder what Crows fans views are if they offered pick 2 for Curtin.
I read yesterday most top 10 players from 2023 onwards (first year top 20 players got 3 year initial contracts) are getting 700k ish for subsequent contracts, sounds about right to me. Curtin extended for 2-3 years at 700-800k.
Some may be disappointed with this player comparison, but I think this is where Curtin is going to end up - 2023 Mason Wood
That is, someone who can take a contested mark off a wing, collect possessions, have a great field kick, and bob up for a goal now and then. Keep in mind Wood was in line for AA conversations for some of 2023
Maybe not a standout player - but a structurally important, yet ‘sexy’ player
I always felt Brett Burton's best work was being that high marking option on the wing.Always liked having a tall marking wingman... with good kicking skills.
Should aim for him more in kickouts 1 on 1...
Also much stronger overheadCurtin has a deft touch and elite skills that peak Mason Wood doesn't have

I think with Curtin's level of comfort at the AFL level now, its probably a good time for the team to start bleeding in some CBA's for him in 2025. Doesn't have to be a lot, even 1 or 2 a game would be fine. But just get him some minutes in the middle to keep that tool sharp, even if its junk time minutes.
I genuinely don't think it would hurt to be pro-active in this space, either the team's performance or with his development. They played him in the middle last year when he was a lot further back then he is now. Both in terms of fitness and readiness. There is no need to rush into any CBA's with Curtin. Wing/half forward will keep the contested skill sharp (after all, contested skills are the difference between having an AFL career and not) and most of the extra stuff can be refined when Curtins performances are demanding a more important role.
They might very well offer Curtin a big contract and the chance to play with his brother (who they promise to draft).Shown some very good glimpses amongst some quiet games. id take Curtins 15 touches over Crouch/Lairds 25. Imagine how good he will be once hes getting 20 plusHe's building very nicely. The next step for Curtin will be to push his disposal average up from 10-ish touches to 15-ish touches.
Everything he does is quality, he just needs to do a bit more of it.
As much as I rate Curtin, there is no way his value is 3 firsts including pick 2 and another top 10.They might very well offer Curtin a big contract and the chance to play with his brother (who they promise to draft).
I really hope we keep Dan, but if we don't, we should be able to demand a huge trade bounty. They will have many top end picks they can trade. We could demand pick 2, another top 10 pick and a late first round pick.

I agree, but it's the perfect time to demand something like that.As much as I rate Curtin, there is no way his value is 3 firsts including pick 2 and another top 10.

For me our midfield is looking light years better in 2025, but it's still not at the top of the competition, and getting point of difference players like Curtin 1 or 2 developmental rotations is going to bridge that gap.

Well if they do offer us that then it's start the car time.I agree, but it's the perfect time to demand something like that.
WC would be desperate for a win after losing Reid, so to bring in a hugely promising guy would be a positive they can sell to fans.
They would also have so many picks that giving us overs wouldn't have as big an impact as normal. They would still be able to pick the eyes out of the draft.
It looks silly on paper, but it might not be that silly in reality.
I don't think they will offer it, and I'm not sure we would get it, but it would be worth starting with something like that.Well if they do offer us that then it's start the car time.
We'd be laughed out of the roomI don't think they will offer it, and I'm not sure we would get it, but it would be worth starting with something like that.
Yeah nah he's going to be a lot better than that
Draft his brother for that...Going to be near impossible to beat in one on one contests. Still hard to peg him though, Westhoff when he was at his best, but that feels a little light on. And then there’s his ground ball ability, strength and burst, another Bont? The only thing I’m reasonably confident about is defence would be a waste, but what if he became a 5 time AA KPD, winning contests and hitting 50m passes that open up opposition.
