Are you really comparing flipping the bird to physical off field threats? Rioli should not be playing for at least a month. The AFL walked very softly on this one...Aye and some shit for brains Geelong player tells fans post game to **** off via giving them not one but 2 middle fingers.... Post game.
Nah nothing to see here. Let alone giving it to visitors to his workplace while he is at work and on the job during a game. Repeat behaviour would be a very hefty fine or instant dismissal in other consumer based jobs.
I said he wouldn't play this week 3 days ago, not sure what else you Karens want?Gee you're struggling aren't you?
Willie pulls out
wouldn't or shouldn't?I said he wouldn't play this week 3 days ago, not sure what else you Karens want?

He acted like one last year. The difference is in how both teams dealt with it.
The Crows made him pull his head in, and Port pussyfooted around with Willie.
The Crows were more professional than Port were, and here we are.
Rachele is killing on the field and Willie is sending people death threats.
Every team would take Rachele over Willie
Seems weak but possibly a bit of back and forth between the AFL and Port, and Port have 'won'. Port may have fought any suspension at all after both Geelong and Essendon wanted no part of adding any fuel to the Bailey Dale issue (which the AFL had already signed off on). AFL got a bit upset with Port that they had been kept out of the loop in regards to Willie, but Port stood their ground and not much the AFL could do. Remains to be seen whether Port are doing the right thing by Willie long term. Time will tell, but he does not seem mentally stable and one week away doesn't seem long enough to get healthy. He is a Port player and port ultimately have the duty of care for player welfare. Doesn't look like they are doing a very good job rolling him out each week to kick goals while his mental state declines.
I didnt say it is how it shouldve played out or that it was handled well by the AFL. My post was a guess of what i think happenedNo, sorry, that is not how this should have played out.
There shouldn't be any "back & forth" because Port shouldn't have had a say in this at all, its a bit more serious than that.
The AFL, as the convenors of the competition & code, should have grown a backbone and made a strong & forthright decision about the incident and handed down a serious penalty to Rioli.
Good "leaders lead" and sometimes they have to make decisions they may not be particularly comfortable with but is in the best interests of the organisation or just the 'right thing to do'.
The AFL's handling of this quite serious issue has been z-grade in professionalism and only served to clearly illustrate just how pathetic their management capabilites truly are.
Wouldn't surprise me if fans start dropping off a bit now especially when you add in the increase of umpire howlers & the farcical fixturing they employ.

If you want something done right you gotta do it yourself right? Few bongs with the brosHeading up to Darwin?
Kenny's verbal to Ginnivan was nothing as was Smith's bird, they were both minor compared to Rioli's threats! When you bring in Ken flying post game, involving an opposition player $20 000 vs a player repeatedly gesturing to crowd members during and post game.
It's not hard to see how much of a disgrace and inconsistent the AFL is, yet that is driven primarily by media and public opinion rather than any AFL driven standard, will not, and will never be anything other than a joke of an organisation.
Sadly it's the highest level a player can reach, but it's very much an amateur league.

It’s even funnier when you consider that it’d be justifiable if the statement was actually written from him because he’s very unintelligent, but Port and Willie’s management would’ve looked it over and ticked it offAm I the only one who laughed at his apology?
"It’s not in my true nature or character to say those things and I apologise for any distress I cause to individuals or their families."
Yet in his previous sentence before this, he states he says things he regrets on field from time to time, which means they happen on a somewhat regular occurence which suggests it IS his nature to say those things...
