Autopsy 8 point loss to Essendon

That's the second time in a month that we play awful footy for a half, miss everything once we wake up....and it's still a close game.

No idea what that means. But why can't we play like we did in the fourth (barring goalkicking) more often?

On the 7 50s, there has been shit 50s all week, clubs got a memo.

I hate the AFLs rule of the week/change the interpretation shit, however we know it’s coming and it speaks a to a complete lack of discipline that is a part of this side right now. They gave the ump every opportunity to ping us

I’ve thought this for sometime but the list we have is a by product of a game plan horse wanted to use which is small types and it nearly worked with two grand finals . Time to start a mini rebuild and get some different size and shape players in and for some more coaching help for cox and a real sit down and create a game plan that’s game changing.

Umpiring was awful - missed some obvious ones for us.

Paton - delist
Warner Jnr - still looking for too much outside easy ball. Needs to get more involved
McInnerney - what the f#$k has happening to his kicking. 8/10 kicks miss their targets
Hamling and Francis - Cox that was your fault. One week too many. Push Hamling back to free up Blakey.
Ladhams would have been handy tonight
Cox - pull your finger out and give Sheldrick an opportunity. Needs 2-3 full games to get confidence and belief. Looked good when injected
Florent - enjoy VFL for a few weeks
Clearly - put him in the midfield
Good game from Grundy, tried hard and good to see him take some marks and kick a goal
We need JUH

Would it kill cox to highlight the holding on Heeney that goes unpunished each week

This goal summed up the afternoon. Outnumbered them at multiple contests yet still got outdone with little to no pressure. Think this will be shown in the review really really poor.

That was really bad. Look at the way Martin is not even at full pace yet still has metres on Roberts, who should've just gone full steam at him, as opposed to his piss poor attempt at corralling.

Changes for next week:
Outs: Patton
Ins: Ladhams
Sub: Roberts

Adams is neither fit enough or of sufficient form - absolutely woeful today in reserves. Only reserves player worthy of elevation is Ladhams so just need to bring him in. Roberts can cool his jets as the sub and count himself lucky that there's literally no one else to call on.

Paton should go out and Ladhams in.

HOWEVER

Based on Cox’s philosophy so far, he’ll rush a terribly underdone Adams back, leave Sheldrick in the sub vest & probably just rotate Ladhams in for one week before promptly ditching him again.

Sorry, I’m just still p***ed off at that game today & I think it started at the selection table.

I’m not sure. I feel like our salary cap has been a bigger issue. We just haven’t been able to get good talls and have relied on failed forwards for all of our tall defenders. The acl injury to that tall defender who never played a game and goukds lack of mobility have meant that our drafting of tslls has been the source of frustration.

we got lucky with paddy and then unlucky when he suffered the career ending injury that he always suggested he had in him

Waste of a decent game by Grundy

Feel for others who also arrange their lives around watching the Swans. Pure torture.
2024 Grand Final certainly changed that.

Each game this season has been so tough to get excited about. Senior players are coasting by, showing up for 20-25 minutes each game and there's no youngsters coming through that are catching the eye, either in the AFL or VFL. It's what made 2020/21/22 so exciting and fun to watch, even if we weren't the best team.

Love the club, but there's not much to get excited about at the moment - maybe Errol and Amartey coming back, but that's it.

The commentary on Fox gave us nothing also;
1. Cleary holding the ball - non call
2. Heeney slapped in the back of the head when their debutant did his ankle
3. Last qtr - redman runs straight into Campbell (maybe francis), front on contact non call
4. Warner jnr overhead mark not paid
5. Warner get pinged for holding the ball but clearly got a handball away

I don't know how he looked live but i'd cut him some slack because at times he was basically having to do the midfield work
He played against a guy who was too old and slow for north - a team that hasn’t won ten games in five years. You’d hope he was doing stuff

But he still gave away his usual free kicks and was still appalling in the ruck - by as a follower he did well - he might be our best tackler in the midfield

That was WTF kind of game.

Me looking at the Essendon list. Wow, that's a really tall talented back line, we are going to need to be careful about how we go inside forward 50 or we will get out marked. Cox, we are going to go long inside 50, and we did. WTF ?

The game starts and we are not going man on man, and they waltz through our zone defence. Reminiscent of the GF. WTF?

The players seem unsure of the game plan. WTF?

Heeney, Chad, Campbell, and most of the rest can't kick straight to save themselves. Not to mention Juzzy. WTF?

Heeney can't keep his feet.WTF?

Sheldrick is made sub after showing last week that he is crucial to our midfield effectiveness.WTF?

The umpires decide, after a 3 to 1 against free kick ratio last week, that there are new rules this week that are only going to be applied to the Swans. WT bloody F.?

Season on the line and it's not looking good. WTF?
