So the Tigers were meant to walk this in. Honestly, we were all gearing up for a cruisy Sunday arvo, maybe throw the kettle on at three-quarter time, laugh at the scoreboard. But no. Richmond don’t do easy. They do drama. Chaos. And nearly coughing it up to a West Coast side that was held together by band-aids, spuds, and one bloke named Harley freakin’ Reid.

Seriously, if Reid had four more teammates who could tie their own boots, we’d be looking at the most embarrassing loss of the season. That kid’s a beast — playing like Dusty’s lovechild with a rocket up him. Carried the Eagles on his back so hard you could see the boot marks on his shoulders.

Mansell had a blinder, Flossy playing like an AA, Brown so poised and Lynch remembered how to mark, kick, and celebrate like it’s 2019. But Balta… oh, Balta. Looked like he’d just rolled out of bed and mistook the Sherrin for a watermelon. Turnover merchant today.

Let’s be honest, we’re lucky the Eagles ran out of puff before we ran out of excuses.

Loved what we saw of South Melbourne Dim (sims)

Competitive, went for his marks and aggressive in the ruck
Still very green like all of our cub talls right now but showed some very good signs
