This is a 16 year old kid playing his first senior game , who got knocked out with this cheap shot , Umpire didn’t report him or even give 50 meters . Reason I’m posting this is a Bentleigh supporter on here last year said we were a thug side , Hope no 16 is real proud of himself.

Sets a bad precedent

Springvale player got 3 weeks for bump on Matt O’Brien
Haven’t heard how many Walker from Bentleigh received

The 3 weeks for the Matty O'Brien hit for Brunt should have been a minimum given Matty is out for 3 due to concussion protocol.

I wonder if it was a premeditated act given Matty is not that tall, and he is the engine room of the St Pauls team.

I guess we will never know. But a 3 week ban for head high tackle causing concussion is at least a start.

Walker should have at least got the same verdict.

It's time this stuff was stamped out.

Another team that will have trouble fitting everyone in
Stpauls played 45/46 last week and he will be a 6 point player

Tom Hofert will play a lot of VFL this year and St Pauls will hope to qualify him for finals. When Tom plays, St Pauls will just have to play more 1 pointers at the bottom end. That will be hard. For St Pauls, it is a lesson. This is what happens when you don't develop and cultivate your own juniors.

You get to 46 points very quickly.

This week, St Pauls have already had to drop one big name recruit in Jack Crackett. The numbers are the numbers.

They wouldn’t have signed him if they knew they couldn’t fit him in. He’d nearly be the best Ruck in the comp if he plays. Might just be the difference if they can qualify him.

Great round of football!

East Brighton with a huge statement! Playing like a team with hunger while the Rosellas are really faltering so far this season. No doubting the quality of Cheltenham, but after being successful for so long it can become hard to keep the motivation and hunger that is required to stay at the top. They will come good and a loss like yesterday's result is the sort of game that can wake the playing group up.

Bentleigh lay down a huge defeat to Cranbourne. Don't think many were expecting this result either. Kudos to Bentleigh, many had them tipped for the drop but they could very easily be 4-1 right now. The youth at the club seem to finally have put it all together. One to watch for me.

On the other hand, Cranbourne currently staring Division 2 in the face. What has happened to the juggernaut club? Couple tight losses but to be blown away like that in a home game that they would have fancied themselves to win, confidence and belief will be low. Hopefully can turn it around.

St Pauls keep finding a way to win. They've had an easier draw and have won a lot of their games off 2 good quarters of football, but to go 4-1 while playing good but not great would please the Doggies. They'll be around come September but hard to gauge them until they line up against the big 3.

Port Colts, seemingly the same story for the 3rd year? Stack the team with big names and top end recruits, but they are failing to gel together. On paper they can compete with anyone, so would be very disappointed to win 1 game in their first 5. Granted they do have injuries but the lack of depth will likely cost them a place in September. 2s look to be struggling to fill a side some games too. The bye has come at a great time for them to have players return.

Springvale finally hitting their straps after a slow start. Murrumbeena, competitive every week and will hopefully grab a couple more wins this year and beat the drop. Youth will only get better.

Meanwhile Narre are enjoying mixed success to start their new Southern chapter. They'll do enough to play finals, but they definitely have the ability to beat the best on their day. Probably my most enjoyable year following Division 1 in a long time. Competition has never been so strong and even.

Who will knock off Dingley first?

Bentleigh Player Points (out of 46) used this season - 32, 33, 32, 31, 31.

That is seriously impressive.

For reference, East Brighton - 45, 45, 45, 46, 46.
St Paul's - 42, 44, 43, 45, 43.
Cheltenham - 33, 38, 36, 32, 31.

(Credit to Dingley who actually average fewer than Bentleigh)

If you think Bentleigh is impressive….check out Narre Warren

At the other end of the scale, Port Colts. Playing between 43-45 points most weeks & have now dropped 3 in a row. Are they getting bang for their buck?
Losing Deluca to Eastern Premier outfit East Doncaster hurt them more than they had anticipated? He was a constant in their midfield for a prolonged period of time , they just don’t seem to ticking over aswell this season although their recruiting in the off season and list on paper had them well around the mark plus the round 1 victory over a cashed up Springvale Districts but very lean pickings since

Bentleigh have always had a very strong pathway to senior football via their 19's but for whatever reason just never strung it together but this year the youngsters are definitely playing great football. Credit to the club for continuing to develop their own!

Narre War were 2 points off being 4-1.

Bentleigh were favourites to get relegated this year, Narre last year won the flag and only dropped 1 game the
I think wild thing is talking about Narre points they used only 23 on the weekend they very rarely pay for high priced recruits most of there players for years have been locals kids from around the area and there juniors and they have lost so many players over the years to other clubs lots have coached other sides or gone for more money but they don’t worry about it and replace them with other local great system there

Are you struggling for numbers in the ressies

I think that will start to change from next season onwards. The general consensus from inhouse is that every other club stocked up on players to prepare for Narre's arrival, which I tend to agree with. They have been with East Brighton, Chelt & Dingley for 2-3 qtrs but couldn't hold them off.

It kind of tells me that with 20 odd points to play with & good canteen sales they will go shopping for a couple of players next year, without upsetting the develop from within culture

Yes Greg, Bentleigh are coming. I have been watching over the last few years. They have had two or three premiership years in under 19s and now those kids are blossoming into great young clubmen. Bentleigh are the example for other clubs in this regard.

Bentleigh have set themselves up for the future nicely without having to spend big money on getting 3- and 4-point players to the club.

Helps when there's no other clubs in the area
