Cumming is less soft, makes fewer errors, and has much better disposal. It's still difficult to accumulate on the wing, as Cook is finding in the twos.

Sholl seemed to manage accumulating just fine last season and has great disposal.

I am not necessarily disagreeing, nor am I agreeing but I think its an interesting argument that Cumming seems to get an easy run with supporters, whereas Sholl was universally put forward as being dropped with a similar output.

IMO, Curtin needs to stay in like they did with Nankervis, give him another chance to prove himself on a BIG stage at the G against the Pies.

Do you think Nank actually proved himself on the weekend? He was certainly better than the previous week, but I think he was lucky to keep his spot for the showdown - Dowling or Edwards might have been better (we will never know)

He was really prominent early and did great in Q1 I thought.

Then didn't see much of him after that tbh.

I know it’s cool to bash Nicks and I get it, however I wonder how much responsibility we need to place on the players in all this? They’re professionals and know what needs to be done in those instances. The leaders should have led on the front foot and went all out attack after Rankine kicked the second in 20secs.
That culture needs to be instilled into them all year round….oh wait, that’s on Nicks and the coaching fraternity

Go back and watch the close losses in the Collingwood games and you will see the same coaching failures we saw against Port. As soon as we get in front, we stop playing and running. We all stand still while we kick long high balls.
It allows the opposition to get on the front foot and attack until they get a mark, or lucky free and win the game.
Deliberately putting your defence under as much pressure as possible is not a winning strategy at then end of close games.

Who cares if you conceed 100 points if you win by 10 goals?

But the media seem to think is a problem.

If you keep losing 100 to 99, then defensive remedies are needed.

No need to go too defensive is you have the ascendency.

Players need to be accountable defensively, but not stop attacking when we have the upper hand.
