It’s no wonder parents get annoyed and junior numbers are declining. How does the league continue to favour clubs. How are keilor in div2 and then they allowed Greenvale the luxury to drop to div2. Look at the % of GV.
Poor from the league.

This was an actual disgrace. The real victims are probably Strathmore who got sent up to div 1, without showing anything like the form greenvale did, but Strathmore's girls program should be strong enough to absorb this. Either way it was absolutely disheartening for those girls that played against Greenvale on Sunday, many of who are in their first season of football. Will be a very hollow premiership that one.

I agree. I hope that Marby lets the league know as it’s a horrible call. Strathmore should be div1 and they can absorb it I agree.

Marby have done well to get 2 sides yet there 2nd side gets let down by incompetence or they were manipulated into it.

It’s happened in boys footy as well.

The lobbying must have been incredible.

What a disgrace. Probably celebrating hard as well as some clubs never learn this is not how you educate and develop kids. To the league- you wonder why kids leave footy! They pay membership and league fees for decisions that are so poor people should be sacked immediately. Get rid of these fools

Obviously they were in the wrong grade but you can’t automatically blame the club. They lost both grading games (not smashed) to teams put in div1. Their under 16 girls team was in div1 and they won 1 game (4%) which must have happened in grading as the fixture/results doesn’t show them winning any games.

Mate I think you need to stop complaining. I’d like to see you try and grade over 100 teams and get everything right.
I’m sure your clubs have benefitted over the years of teams being in the wrong grade.
Or should we just go back to the old days and your teams are judged on your under 16’s. That way people like you can stop complaining because there will be no grading.
It happens in most sports where the grading isn’t always right. Just shut up about it and let the kids celebrate their successful season. You need to remember this is kids sport and we aren’t playing for sheep stations. They are out there having fun and playing the game they love.

Exactly it’s a kids sport so why was the prelim and grand final so one sided?? Yes grading isn’t easy but they re graded them back to div2. Even keilor should have been in div1. Both are big clubs so why allow them the luxury of div2.

Seen Hillside (2) smash West Coburg (2) in under 14 div6. Seriously there was no atmosphere at all. It was all one sided and that’s not great for an uncompetitive game.

Is it ture massive crowd fight during under 14 game between Strathmore v Aberfeldie.

I’m hearing the Abers runner punched and kicked a strathmore official.

Very bad look for the league. Wonder what the league will do about this
The version I heard was that the *Strathmore runner punched an Abers assistant coach after a tense game. Didn’t even hear about massive crowd fight. If true the runner shouldn’t be allowed on a ground ever again.

A question and a couple of comments
Why do u/14's need an assistant coach?
Imagine the pile on if the runner was from NS or Roxy?

Idiots. The bigger clubs(Abers,Mores,Keilor) are the worst or just as bad as the worst clubs.

So you’re saying nothing happened after the runner punched the assistant coach.
I’m sure there was more that happened. Just both clubs keeping it quiet.
Both coaching panels should be out for the rest of the season, that includes both coaches, assistants and runners.
These adults should be be coaching kids footy

I’m not saying anything, just passed on the version that was told to me. Be good to hear from someone that actually seen it.
The EDFL should come down hard on anyone involved, parents fighting over kids footy is just ridiculous and agree those people have no right being involved anywhere.

Hey Horse, I will repeat what I said years ago. Some of these runners have no idea and stay on the ground or coach. Runners or assistant coaches don’t need to do any training or even a short 10min education program online. Main Coaches do but no others.

I’ve never experienced or seen issues with Strathmore tbh but Abers yeah well they think they can do what they like without repercussions from the league.

Years ago ? You bring up runners on a weekly basis 😂 Do you have any specific examples of Aberfeldie runners doing the wrong thing ?

If it’s my club I would be hoping the committee act on this crap before it even gets to a tribunal/investigation. Junior sport should weigh heavier to enjoyment than success, it’s so hard to watch some parents at juniors games.

I heard about it Sunday night and I live 45mins away, surprised that nothing from a smartphone hasn't hit the social media space as of yet, considering (for many) filming is their first point of action these days.

I’ve seen Abers runners in junior footy actually coaching on ground and the guy wearing the coaches vest is just a dummy appointment.
Seen em tagging opposing kids at young ages and recall a situation where the opposing player had enough ( due to the constant slandering and annoyance) and hit the Abers kid and they sooked up big time and went to the league. Yet they instigated it all.

So, player doesn't handle tag.. belts opponent. Club sticks up for their player & they're the sooks?
Concerning.

Tagging???
I'm always concerned when I hear this at junior level, especially around what the message to said "tagger" could be, and what the consideration around contest skills, craft, fundamentals etc is.

Same but there is a tendency on here to add a bit of mayo in order to sell a point too.
There needs to be a balance, players shouldn't reach open age footy & need to be taught the defensive side of the game.

I agree with Gremlin's earlier sentiments, that it should be primarily about fun, fitness & having a kick with your mates, when it all gets a bit too serious, you see people giving up.

Would’ve thought it was self explanatory.

Any coach at any level needs a 2IC to bounce off in case they’ve finished work late or got stuck in traffic or heaven forbid goes on a 1 week holiday.
Assistant coach can step in at take the start of training or genuinely help the volunteer coach with all the requirements that go with it.

Marby fined by the EDFL after the council called the league to say they were breaking council rules. They were found to be using another ground to host a training session. Against councils policies.
What about all of the winter cricket teams who hijack council owned grounds each week for organised sport?

Well pushing player constantly off the ball and saying unnecessary stuff. Was warned but continued. Unfortunately messed with the wrong kid who could handle himself.

Anyway my point was certain clubs have idiots running them or coaches are just muppets wearing the vest. They don’t actually coach as they know stuff all.
