MRJ can only dream of what Mansell, Campbell (and I suspect Alger) are capable of delivering as a small forward.
Add Clarke’s return and MRJ and Green drop further back in order.
Green needs to get physically stronger.

The team is starting to gel.
It takes time, a couple of years to form.
Campbell & Mansell are essential.
(Solves the small roving forwards issue.)
Sims very impressive.
Starting to develop a real framework, a structure going forward.

It's the opportunity his inclusion costs youngsters. Look at Hugo - finally got an opportunity on the wing in 2024 and didn't look out of place. But Pickett and Macca were constants there and it only presented when Pickett got injured. Or even the week just gone...Short is a late withdrawal and Banks plays as the distributor off half back. And what do you know....Banks gets 9 x coaches votes as he got an opportunity that a senior player previously had a mortgage on. Or Sims...came in and looked very promising - if Samson Ryan was fit he probably plays in that second ruck role ...and so on.....

But you can't ignore that playing wing and then some midfield this year, Macca has not got a single coaches vote in his last 69 x games, and has received 1 x coaches vote in his last 97 x games (he received 23 x coaches votes in his first 102 games).

He's a warrior and glad he's got to 200 - but after this week I hope he's played as sub a bit more often to ensure Tresize, Banks, Clarke, Smith, Green etc...can play full games in the 22 to hasten their development.

On Sunday, McCauliffe was going to be sub, play 20-minutes of footy, get 2 touches, and probably go back to VFL the week after. The week prior Tresize was sub, gets minimal minutes, then was slated to play VFL. I don't think it's the right move when history tells you the team will benefit greatly from getting youngsters to 40-50 x games ASAP.

Banks gets an opportunity at half back due to Short's injury, and gets 9 x coaches votes. What would Sonsie do at senior level if given some midfield minutes instead of those Macca got earlier in the year? We will never know.

With TT and Hopper already staples in the midfield I just don't get the logic of putting Macca in there as well when we've got Sonsie and McCaullife dominating VFL and looking for opportunity. It makes no sense to me.

Anyway...I love Macca for the selfless role he has played across his career and will be cheering him on in his 200th.
