We do have a couple of KPF who we are trying atm, namely W.Dawson and Maley . While bringing in Archer May sounds like a good option were does he sit in getting a game amongst the other 2? Surely they need more game time to see if they can hold down that position. We are desperatley in need of a small crumbing forward atm and Frank Szekely , to me, would be a good fit. We have a small defensive forward now in Konstanky and Paul Curtis is also very good defensively also. If the club do pick May then it says to me the they dont think they currently have a player who can fill that spot.

l'm sure Brady will make the right choice.... :laughv1:
think Archie May would put immediate pressure on darling and maley

and be a long term option also

Don’t see what the bedwetting is about really. His movement looks much improved and very promising.

Darling will be gone in 18 months.

Teakle will be gone.

Dawson is a defender.

Maley has played 2 games.

I’d argue we need another throw at the stumps for a KPF than we do a defender with Whitlock/Dawson both young investments down back. They are both problem positions for the club (and have been for about 6 years) no doubt.

We aren’t getting Matthew Scarlett in the MSD this year anyway.

The comparisons to Jacob Edwards are unfair. We might recruit this kid out of state league footy as a 20 year old. Edwards was recruited from 10-12 games for Sandy Dragons and Mentone Grammar. He’d never played anything close to WAFL.

His disposal, marks and tackle numbers look decent for a young KPF.

They are some incredibly impressive stats for a young key forward prospect. I like his habit of kicking multiple goals. What is really impressive is his ability to kick goals from zero possessions.

If he's that good then we should definately get him... ;) :laughv1:

Did it back to back as well to prove it wasn't a fluke.

Is this Archer May media hype recruiters from other clubs trying to get us to pick up another dud ala Edwards?

Nah, he has been there abouts as a potential draftee since 2023. in 2023 he played as an overager for Sandy and kicked plenty of goals while also getting a few games exposure in Richmond's VFL side. Played some decent enough games in the VFL last year, but after a big pre-season he has improved his athleticism, and physique and there has been a notable shift in his consistency of performance in the WAFL this year.

I guess I've just been conditioned to us being duped and/or not taking any advantage good opportunities to shore up our list in the MSD when we've pretty much always had first crack at it.

WAFL SANFL State game this weekend

While breaking a five-year losing run against the Croweaters and representing the State with pride were the main focus points, Read said the match would also be a fantastic opportunity for several players looking to put their name forward for the AFL Mid-Season Draft later this month.

“We’ve picked a team to win but there’s definitely an opportunity there for the guys in the team,” Read said.

“We saw it with Blighty (Peel Thunder product Jacob Blight) who was picked by Richmond in last year’s mid-season draft.

“(Peel defender) Michael Sellwood stands out as I’ve seen him week in, week out and know what he’s capable of. He’s still only 21.

“Then plenty of others like (Subiaco pair) Taj Schofield and Archer May, (East Fremantle midfielder) Milan Murdock and (Claremont small forward) Zac Mainwaring.
