I'm all for making a statement at selection, but as it stands we'd be dropping a senior player for poor performance, just to select a reserves player for ... poor performance.

Not sure what message that actually sends.

We get sporadic good performances from some in the VFL but Kirk probably the listed player that earned it the most on the weekend, although having missed a bit of VFL recently I don't know if he's been consistent enough. Maybe Mitchell for just slogging it out week after week in VFL, but hardly a great reason.

Sheldrick getting a full game is a must, and Paton should be first out. Other than that, a swap of a tall for Ladhams and bringing in one of Kirk, Mitchell or Hanily as sub probably the best we can do.

Maybe we see Kirk's game on the weekend or Hanily's 3 goals the week before as enough to get a full game, then we could drop another senior player I guess.

The three talls got 21 disposals between them last week. Even Pistol Pete will get that if he plays at least 25% on ball. Kirk and Ladhams are the only ones who deserve promoting

Sheldrick can still be named sub even though he's named on field.

I'm guessing he wont be though, hopefully Florent, but I expect Warner or Bice(to manage him a bit, his first season, maybe his legs are tired)

I think the team has to evolve beyond Florent/Lloyd/Cunners who have been terrific club players.

If you either drop or Sub Florent or Lloyd, you lose 2 of your top 5 possession getters. I think those two are the excuse of lazy analysis. Nobody ever says Jordan only got 9, Macca 15, I watched Macca, Chad, Heens, Hamling, Will and McLean stop chasing in the first and second quarters. Hamling did not chase properly all night.

Hamling could play a similar role on Weitering to what he did against Sam Taylor.

Hamling McCartin Blakey rather than Francis McCartin Blakey because the latter almost feel like the same player but different levels of athleticism
