Hope they can put spin on the 2 free kick goals for Long that were non existent. The game was there to be won in the last. Bitterly disappointed we didn’t take it!

Reeves was a liability.

This. Not only because Meek is a superior ruckman but he’s an absolute wrecking ball in the middle. All Reeves did all game was stand there like one of those stupid lumbering tree creatures in LOTR and swat at the ball feebly usually resulting in the ball being turned over to which he’d then start to crawl to a powerwalk to try and chase. Honestly his defensive running made Tom Mitchell look like Nick Watson on steroids by comparison. Haven’t been this angry about a Hawthorn player’s performance in a long time - it was utterly pathetic.

Always thought we’d miss Nashy in this game. 4-game suspension instead of 3 was critical. Great effort by the boys I thought.

We just need to figure out what is going on in our clearance work - we've been getting spanked around the ground in clearances, and couldn't win centre square clearances tonight either tonight - which has usually been our get out.

Champion Data during the week said it was the one glaring weakness in our profile, being clearances and was again on show. It really hurts our ability to control a game, and gave the Suns so many easy goals out of the middle.

We need a fair rethink on our setup - even despite several outs. Worps was poor tonight, he really butchered it in patches - his form is really frustrating. Up and down a lot this season, whereas last season felt really consistent. Not the only passenger in the middle - but he's the most experienced, I expected better.

The revolving door of our midfield rotation is the reason.

Worpel out in round 1 for four weeks. Ward in.
Day out after round 4.
Nash out for 4 weeks soon after.
Frenchie out for a week and then back in.
Meek out tonight.

We have not been settled at all.

Positives

• Watson is just an electric footballer
• Ginnivan is the hardest working half forward in the game
• Newk will win his second PCM this year
• Amon having a cracking year
• Scrimmers came back and played a blinder
• Chol still the best value key forward in the league. That third goal, wow

Negatives

• Reeves remains a limited footballer. If Meek goes down we will be in a bit of strife.
• We appear one class midfielder short to give Newk and Worps the ability to match it with the likes of the GC midfield.
• Centre square clearance needs some serious work

Put Day and Meek back in the middle in September and it will look different.

People need to stop mentioning Day. He's not going to be much of a factor for us this year we need to do it without him. A top 4 side should be able to cover a few injuries.

To much of a mountain to climb in the end after the first quarter. We had our chances in the last quarter but not clean enough to get the win.

The game was high octane footy great to watch. Missing some key personal, the skippers is out of form and the midfield was well beaten.

With their Pimp Daddy Dillon in the crowd and his lime green minions on the field, the Suns were always going to get over the line. However, come September, when the Hawks are chasing Premierships, the AFL Suns will be chasing penicillin like they’ve done for 24 years.

Umpires didn’t help, but what killed us most was our first qtr.

This is the first time we’ve had close to our best team available, proud of the Hawks.

We’re only going to get better as our best team gets to take the field each week moving forward.

Can’t win finals if we don’t win or break even in clearance, been a problem all season.

Sis is a major concern, looks tentative.

Dear not the right selection, was poor for BH last week.

There were some great signs tonight and we have so much scope for growth this season.

I get a bit worried about repeat offenders who refuse to take some physical punishment when they really need to for the sake of the team. How are we going to go in big finals if the likes of MacDonald are side stepping when a 50/50 ball is headed toward them?

Also it might be an unpopular opinion here but so far Barrass isn't impacting games enough considering the draft capital we gave up for him.

Missed the majority of the 1st quarter, check the score board and it's 32-6 and thinking oh no, not again. But then the comeback, leading after 3rd quarter and almost win it. Great effort .

My expectations for this match was not getting belted and be more competitive, of course who doesn't want to win the game, but not that much disapointed.

Josh Ward, Nick Watson, Jack Ginnivan and also how good it's to have Amon, Scrimshaw back. Love to see more of B.Mac and Weddle dashing from HB.

That kick from Ward to Chol from Reeves's tap was . Is this the first game where the first quarter we kick more goals than behind?

Not loving Barrass when the ball is on the deck in d50, essentially leaves us a man short at ground balls and defensive pressure when he can't bend over

Suns ability to move the ball so effortlessly through the middle really was the difference and shows us how desperate we are for an Anderson style game changing midfielder. Hope that is Reid…
