Autopsy Round 10, 2025: Suns get it done against plucky Hawks

This is the first time we’ve had close to our best team available, proud of the Hawks.
Quite possibly the dumbest thing I’ve read on Bigfooty, and that’s saying something

We literally rested 5 players for this game

Congrats to Mass on his 50th. Shame we couldn't get the win.

Nukem, Watson, Hardwick and Chol were amazing tonight.

Great to have Scrim back as well, had a fantastic night.

u cant just flick a switch .. keep playing a half of footy at most, win stupid prizes ... not hard enough early enough

infuriating
Because we try and be too cute from the get go. Every player ball watching waiting for a cheap little release rather than digging in from the first bounce and winning the contested ball like every other side does. We need to get harder and tougher quicker.

Boy do we miss Will Day…

At least we can rest easy in the knowledge that no one gives the slightest f*ck about the Suns and never will.

But at least we got this hilarious moment from the match :tearsofjoy:

If Finn's game was to shut out Rowell, he wasn't great either. 0 tackles for a defensive based player is really disappointing. Missed our big mids this week. Day, Meek, Nash.
Our depth in Ward and Mackenzie played well but were let down by our defensive mids.
Maybe I'm searching for a scapegoat though.

There were a decent handful of players who didn’t play outstanding today but Finn was still busting his arse all game so I’m not going to get vitriolic. Same with Sicily - down on form, sure, but his effort is still there. Reeves just didn’t bloody do anything all night. He offered absolutely nothing. Meek and Nash play tonight and Suns players wouldn’t be sauntering out of the clearances all night.

I mean, we can and are?

Losing by a kick to a team at a ground and in conditions which should not be allowed to host games is an excellent result. Especially with 6-7 of the best 22 out…
Gold coast played on those same conditions twice and won twice. I don't think to the climate cost us, it perhaps advantaged us with all our elite runners.

I'll say what I'll said in the preview. Gold coast suns players are also humans, they aren't some different species better equipped to playing in hot humid weather.

John noble 10,000 meters gained what's going on there? Bailey Humphreys not paid anywhere near enough respect, think Hamish McLaughlin was trying to crack onto touk miller's Mrs!

You cannot be serious

Yes I am, compared to what we have had earlier in the year with injuries.

I know we rested a few. But we put a good team out there tonight. Next week we can go one better with Meek, Gunston, Impey and Nash to return.

Bruest is sitting on the fringe of our best team due to age and restrictions.

We have only Day and Lewis left to return for finals hopefully. Lewis is listed as 4-6 weeks…

Our team is timed nicely to peak for finals!

Just offers nothing around the ground and his ruck work does not compensate for that, he is depth however so it is whatever really.

His ruck work is overrated. Other than that nice tap to Ward, he gave us no advantage at all. We actually looked better with Weddle in there.

Agree! I was happy to start with, but changed my mind after his barracking for the sun.

A shame Rioli cannot give the forgiveness he is seeking. I am little over him…. Stay at the Suns Cyril as you clearly do not want to make peace with the Hawks.
Spot on. I am sick of people giving a f**k about him. If he never returns to the club, then good riddance.

Game was lost in clearance battle.

Missing Meek, Nash and Day hurt us as GC waltzed thru at times.

This is an issue that needs to be fixed if we are to consider ourselves a legitimate chance this year.

The Day loss of class in the middle is bigger than most want to admit. Without him we are getting beating easily at centre bounces.
Haven't looked the same since he got injured.

The revolving door of our midfield rotation is the reason.

Worpel out in round 1 for four weeks. Ward in.
Day out after round 4.
Nash out for 4 weeks soon after.
Frenchie out for a week and then back in.
Meek out tonight.

We have not been settled at all.
Exactly what I just said, no continuity has ruined us getting into a rhythm in there every week.

I understand - but to get within 2 goals, and to dominate large parts of the game after falling the best part of six goals down - is quite good.

I actually think this is a much harder game than the Lions and Pies at the MCG and definitely more than Adelaide in Tassie…

There were some great signs tonight and we have so much scope for growth this season.

I get a bit worried about repeat offenders who refuse to take some physical punishment when they really need to for the sake of the team. How are we going to go in big finals if the likes of MacDonald are side stepping when a 50/50 ball is headed toward them?

Also it might be an unpopular opinion here but so far Barrass isn't impacting games enough considering the draft capital we gave up for him.
Unpopular or downright stupid?

Lets go back to key forwards taking mark after mark on us then. What about that idea?

Meek, Day, Lewis, Nash, Impey, Gunston are all absolute locks for our side and are all missing. Not sure what you’re talking about there.
