Autopsy Round 10, 2025: Suns get it done against plucky Hawks

Watson, Ginnivan, Ward, Scrimshaw and Newcombe should share any votes for Hawthorn players.

Thought Mackenzie got better as the game went on. Hopefully both he and Dear can get their hands on the ball more next week after their first games back this week.

Nothing groundbreaking here but Reeves’ tap work was ok, while his around-the-ground work left a lot to be desired… Not Croc or Sicily’s nights either.

I’m comfortable we can handle these campaigners at the pointy end.

Great effort by the boys, disappointing to lose but I’m happy with the effort.

Suns ability to move the ball so effortlessly through the middle really was the difference and shows us how desperate we are for an Anderson style game changing midfielder. Hope that is Reid…
We have that player we just can't get him on the park.

John noble 10,000 meters gained what's going on there? Bailey Humphreys not paid anywhere near enough respect, think Hamish McLaughlin was trying to crack onto touk miller's Mrs!
That’s 10kms…
I think you will find it was 1,000 metres gained.
Still impressive, although Noble is a campaigner.

There were a decent handful of players who didn’t play outstanding today but Finn was still busting his arse all game so I’m not going to get vitriolic. Same with Sicily - down on form, sure, but his effort is still there. Reeves just didn’t bloody do anything all night. He offered absolutely nothing. Meek and Nash play tonight and Suns players wouldn’t be sauntering out of the clearances all night.
I think that's the thing though. Finn might’ve tried hard but didnt offer much offensively or defensively. Not the sole reason we lost but was part of it with 0 tackles

Hopefully Meek is fully rested and ready to never miss another game, ever again. We just can't afford to have Reeves out there. Especially with Day and Nash also out.
Meek is like having a ruckman plus a (very) big bodied inside mid rolled into one. As you say with Nash and Day out we are lacking size and grunt and Meek gives us that.

Reeves is basically an onlooker once the ball hits the deck unfortunately. I’m not sure that’s ever going to change.

Taking a holistic approach I actually don’t mind giving Meek a week off given he’s been rucking one out all year long but he’s straight back in next week for the whole year.

Umpires didn’t help, but what killed us most was our first qtr.

This is the first time we’ve had close to our best team available, proud of the Hawks.

We’re only going to get better as our best team gets to take the field each week moving forward.

BOG Wiz and Chol

We will see the Suns in the finals with potentially Lewis and Day!

Verses Lions

Out: Reeves, MacDonald.B, Morrison, Maginness

In: Meek, Nash, Gunston, Impey
Youve got to have some serious dislike of Harry to be dropping him after being a standout 4 qtr contributor.

Those laying in Reeves are just way off and wrong. He was very honorable and honest in his effort. They should shift their criticism onto our Captain whose general play is deplorable. To the point I cringe when he gets ball in hand.

6 touches, 0 marks, 1 clearance, gave our mids no advantage (other than 1 nice tap to Ward) and was lumping around. I don't think we can call that honourable.

But agree about Sicily. Had another shocker. His head isn't in the game.

One thing that irritates me and all teams do it, when going back with the flight watch the ball not the player. CJ was one example tonight. The second you watch the player you're not winning the ball. You either give away a free kick or they will beat you to the mark.

Really good performance against the odds. We simply have to fix our work at centre bounce they walked out easily we are still bees to the honeypot. That’s not players missing that’s system. But I am really proud of the fight they showed I thought some of our younger players like Ward Mackenzie Watson Ginnivan were fantastic and Newk Scrimshaw Amon Barrass were immense. A lot to like and I would say our best performance of the year.

Anderson, Rowell & Miller in the top five ranked players. Newcombe was ranked 1 but had very little support. That's the game right there. Nash, Day & Meek would've been massive. Also, Sicily is carrying a groin injury. He was asked about it before the game & brushed it off! It explains a lot. Rest him.

Premierships aren’t won in May. I still don’t like losing but better to learn lessons now than in September.

Game was lost in clearance battle.

Missing Meek, Nash and Day hurt us as GC waltzed thru at times.

This is an issue that needs to be fixed if we are to consider ourselves a legitimate chance this year.

The Day loss of class in the middle is bigger than most want to admit. Without him we are getting beating easily at centre bounces.

100% to many passangers. I feel we have some answers but don't seem to give others a go from the other lines.

Meek, Day, Lewis, Nash, Impey, Gunston are all absolute locks for our side and are all missing. Not sure what you’re talking about there.
Yes, very odd.

In saying that, if someone showed you the final score before the game, you would’ve taken it with all the players we had out/rested.

Put Impey, Nash, Meek and Gunston into that side and I think we roll them at their fortress.

And then there's Day and Lewis to come.
