Just when you thought things would settle down re Willie Rioli. Bevo fires back at Koch's remarks.
He had right to reply to DK comments...
So who's lying, if the wbd are saying they didn't cross the line ?
I'm guessing from now on sledging a player about off field discretions is a no go zone.
No more "needle pushing" mocking like Sam Mitchell did vs the bomber's after the dank peptides drama's then ?
It'll be interesting today to see if anything happens between the cats players and Rioli. I think its easy to get under the skin of him anyway, especially when he gives away late and high hits that result in frees and 50m penalties.

It's last disposal regardless of where

Found this video on the Sanfl rule. Better but still plenty of room for varying interpretations.

Great sport but so many rules require interpretation to enforce. Why wouldn’t they just go with an NBA type rule? Last touch out of bounds is a turnover. Simple and no bias.

I mean you could but i think you'd change the way the game is played in some way. The SANFL rule changes the difficulty of adjudication without changing the game

Good on Bevo, what the hell is ‘cultural disrespect’ anyway, how is it different to racism? Port has definitely tried to spin this saga as Rioli being the victim at every corner

Defender can't punch over line?

It should be last kick not disposal as the latter invites disputes over who touched it last when marking or when there is a scramble for the ball close to the line. Also, does it mean no throw ins at all? If so, then the ruckman’s role is greatly reduced.
The SANFL rule is last disposal ie kick or handball where it's not touched before going over. Throw ins for other cases.

The area that remains contentious is where players just take the ball over the line where they could have disposed of it or kept it in, either under pressure or a little pressure. This really annoys me. I'd prefer if they had an obligation to try to keep the ball in play.

If you want to see players murder each other on the football field, treat the boundry as a tackler, if they had prior opportunity, have the ball in hand and still leave the field, pay it as a free kick.

I don't mind the last disposal rule in the SANFL. Even though we don't see many complaints about the rolling maul anymore, that being said I think it would increase positional play quite a bit, people like 90s football don't they.

Being Sir Doug Nichols round im surprised there has not been more discussion on the numbers of players in system. I have heard it reported/discussed recently that the numbers of First Nations players in the AFL have dropped in recent years. Has there been an answer given as to why there are less first Nations players coming thru or being drafted

Is it the clubs having better alternatives to draft or is the numbers drying up that are participating? Are the number dropping at the second level too… in wafl , sanfl and vfl?

If the talent is there then its probably the mechanisms currently used to add talent. Could a version of Rookie B work. Perhaps talent that has missed being drafted once or twice. What was Lawson Hump… technically a 2021 draft? He is where he is now because Geelong gave him a chance

Super highest level talent will always be drafted but is there others like Lawson out there , guys that are just on the edge or under developed that with a bit of a chance and development could become players. If only they could find a spot on a list. Clubs are more likely to take risks if they can add a player outside of the cap , that doesn't affect normal list spots. If it doesn't work out then no real draft loss and a lot of players have at least been exposed to the professional system and level but if it does then there will be a lot more players given a chance and some talent found… and the players can choose if they want to move to the particular club ..which ever club it may be…whether its West Coast , Brisbane or Geelong.

Isn't it lovely waking up to a Carlton loss :D

I'm quite fond of waking up after a Hawthorn loss; one of the few things more enjoyable than that is waking up the day after Collingwood have a chance to win after the siren but fluff it

Weekend is off to a great start. I just need a great afternoon setting the boys live and we're set

Just a few months after the passing of Troy Selwood, it has been announced that his twin brother, Adam, has also passed. Vale, gone too young.
