Mid forward connection however is the pits.

There are two major factors holding us back and this is one and it have neon lights on it.

Nothing will change my mind that we lead in the wrong direction.

We play like we have some 7 ft behemoth man mountain that marks everything and kicks goals out his arse.

We have a forward line built on KPF who lead. And yet our go to is bombing long and hoping peak Carey will appear and roll over the top of a pack.

if we:
  • Lead at the ball carrier
  • worked for space for each other

Other forward line would immediately look better.

Our young guns have been instructed to do the hard stuff instead of the fancy stuff in recent weeks. And I reckon Clarko has told the players to play with a bit more composure and poise, look up etc, when in possession rather than simply blaze away and get caught out on the turnover like what was happening earlier on. Anyway good day at the G, a competitive game, good crowd/atmosphere and thankfully we somehow held on instead of stuffing it up again.

Agree with this entirely.

Since Good Friday everyone has been cracking in … we are now playing more like a pro-team and fighting for everything.

Not sure what was said behind closed doors, but love seeing everyone scrapping for everything …

Ok I watched it. I actually don't think it was too bad. They threw A LOT of pressure at us. If you had have told me at the start of the game their pressure game would be that high I'd have pencilled us in for a loss.

Mid forward connection however is the pits.
**** we miss Curtis.

Kudos to the North faithful that showed up. It was an electric atmosphere.

It was a long day, 9:30 departure for a 7:30 arrive home

I reckon I have to get smarter for attendance at the G. Park at Thomastown Station and train it in.

The congestion in the CBD, narrowing of roads, two lanes into one and the squeeze of bike lanes all lead to a slow crawl.

The usual car park I use up that end looks like it is being renovated so I went to this other one at the top of Flinders Lane. You pay to enter with your paywave at the gate. $20 for the weekend.

Come back after the game and it takes 40 minutes to get down to the boom gate. PayWave the final cost. $30.
Okay well there’s not much you can do but pay the $30 to exit at the boom gate.

Moral to the story; get on a train to the G

Just quietly, that 31k included a metric ****-ton of Swans fans. If I guessed at the percentage split, 57 their way, 43 us. We have been louder than previous years though, and it feels like the core of the fanbase has expanded a bit
I'm not sure it was that lop-sided, I reckon there was more of us than them. But plenty of ours left from half time onwards.

I'm in aisle 31 normally, so I can't see what's above me and the Swans may have dominated that.

Great to have a win

Good signs from some of the younger guys in Kerch ,Powell ,George , stiffy.

First was good with players buzzing all over the place
Other quarters not that great but we got the job done
Our defensive side of our game has improve in leaps and bounds.
Pink is a competitor and made some great decisions.
Stiffy does his job and gives good run off half back
LDU was being held at nearly every stoppage and didn’t get a free kick - really stood up in that last when we needed some drive out of there
Powell has really hardened up and gotten better at the contested stuff
X was massive against nank and putting them in a wresting ring wouldn’t have been out of place lol.
Camz was really good and not for a few high send offs - he could have kicked 6.
Souva really needs to stop exaggerating any contact he gets. He won’t get free kicks because of it.
Tigers are a pack of scrappers that won’t make it easy for any team - they’ve also beaten blues n suns. So they’re not the easy beats everyone thought they’d be.

Take the points and move on.

Richmond aren’t into the worst of their rebuild yet. Still have some very good experienced players who will phase out or want trades over the next year or two.

When the game was open early we looked the better team. They turned it into a scrap with elite pressure we didn’t handle well.

But we found a way.

We are a silly chance against Collingwood.

The amount of whining on here after a WIN is out of control.

Some people would find fault if we won by 8 goals. I swear. It's insane. Take the win and focus on the positives for a change.

You ARE allowed to be happy, you realise. You're not required to feel bad or point out flaws in our team each time we don't absolutely smash the opposition.

Jesus, even in our premiership years we did actually lose games. Surprisingly.

Enjoy the win. We haven't had many of them recently.
Absolutely. We used to have shit wins in the 90’s too when we were at the top of the heap so you bet I’m enjoying this win. I had two teenage lads sitting next to me who were absolutely rapt to see their first win live in 6 years, and the happiness from them and from all the North people around me when the final siren went was all that mattered in the end - it wasn’t perfect but we won

Pros:-
  • need to start calling Xerri Atlas. That was immense. Where would we be without him.
  • fantastic to see LDU fly the flag in a way that really mattered
  • Can't get enough of Pink. Something about his improvement that gives so much hope for our other fringe players that haven't had a proper crack yet. Could this be a glimmer of influence from our four time premiership coach that was meant to be past it? Whatever the reason is I am here for it.
  • McKercher appears to be taking the next step.
  • Darling - it looked like the experiment had failed and right on the death knell he's back. Didn't see that coming.
  • Zuhaar showing some consistency and confidence, great stuff.
  • We are a couple of kicks off being above Port and Bscoot on the ladder. Thirteen games to go, dare we dream.

Cons:-
  • we got a win but that monkey on our back where we just straight up bottle it has gone nowhere. Call me pessimistic but I just can't imagine playing entire games without that timid shakiness anytime soon. It also rears its head when we get two or three goals up - something changes in the mentality of the team, you can almost feel it.
  • Scott needs to be in the magoos. I'm sure he can turn things around, but he needs to do it off broadway first.
  • Larkey - I love the bloke but some days his inability to take a contested mark is hard to look past.

Bring on the Pies, hopefully we give them a scare.

I enjoyed the game
Just good seeing some of the kids actually starting to get the defensive intent that's required. They would have learnt a lot the last few weeks

Were we perfect. Hell no. But not many sides would be with the pressure the Tigers bought. Our pressure was excellent too
Thought we defended pretty well. Plus had some excellent passages that lead to goals.

ps Too much negative stuff in here. It was a win against a side higher on the ladder that threw the kitchen sink at us, on a ground we don't play and we're improving. I loved it !

How dare we, North Melbourne supporters, go in favourites against any team and expect a comfortable win.

They toyed with us off our fwd 50 and cruised into attack too many times. How slow do we look its teeth pulling excruciatingly frustrating.

Fix this please!!!!! FFS
