JL visibly affected by Selwood's passing, I had heard they were reasonably close some years ago. I've wanted him sacked and gone as much as anyone, but it's clear to see he's a bloody good bloke. I hope he can somehow turn it around.

What is a concern is that injuries have a
beneficial impact on team performance.
Not coach driven and that’s why Jlo is a
good bloke but an average coach.
Adding Simpson and Ras seems a no brainer.
Banfield is a great sub, not starting 18.
Darcy unfit is pointless. But Wagner has

As you say we are too up and down to take the next step. But next year with the right direction we could be a juggernaut.

Ridiculous take. There's great female commentators across many different codes of sport and Kelli isn't one of them.

Kelli implements of lot of absurd cliches, makes basic factual errors about players (names, stats) and the general read of play. The whole 'Freo fans hiding behind the couch' thing was hilariously bad because she said it about 15 times during the match if not more.

True commentating is a bit of an art form that's gone by the way-side in footy since replacing real commentators with ex-players for the past several years. There were times when commentators were true experts on every player named on the field, nuance was used often with comedic timing, the big moments were made truly memorable by great commentators. Cometti wasn't loved by a lot of Freo fans, but he was the last real deal as a commentator.

Not a Collingwood fan but that ridiculous 'wowee' by James Bradshaw in the GF a couple of years ago sums up the standard in modern footy.

There's heaps of misogyny in our game, and mostly it dare not speak it's name.

Just because other female commentators aren't targeted doesnt mean it's fair play.
The question is, does she cop shite that she wouldn't if she was bloke?
Everyone has to honestly answer that for themselves.
Would any female commentator get away with what Dermot Berreton serves up?

I'm a superbooster for women and families in our game.

And I prefer Voss as the number 2 ruck. For team structure 1 ruckman and Voss is better… even if Sean gets himself fit, he doesn’t really fit the sides structure.

This obsession with Jackson being a “unicorn” is ridiculous. The guy is a ruckman, pure and simple - it then becomes a straightforward debate on who is the better ruckman - and I’m firmly in the Jackson camp.

I’m a believer that it can work between Jackson and Darcy. Darcy needs to get fit and develop up forward. I love Voss but his footy IQ still has a way to go in terms of decision making.

Darcy can spend a good chunk of time at Peel. He has shown some ability up forward taking a clunk in the past. Brings a different dynamic to forward line with Darcy starting at full forward and Amiss getting up the ground a bit.

Amiss is a lead up forward. With Darcy starting in the square for those deeper i50 entries he could be damaging.

They will likely share the ruck 50/50. LJ can play some onball cameos and be thrown through the forward line.

The primary objective we are all on the same page for is Darcy needs to get some footy fitness and develop his forward work. Do that at Peel even if it takes a month.

He was only thrown up early because Reidy is so s*#t. Darcy actually went ok first game up against Nank. Then fell off a bit.

It’s actually the emergence of Voss that is really fuelling the Darcy debate.

If we are now reduced to justifying Darcy’s place in the team based on what he can do as a forward then he’s in big trouble.

Voss is an honest battler in attack that brings energy and pressure but still has flaws. Even still though, he’s is in a different league to Sean Darcy as a forward. We have seen very little evidence that Darcy is an AFL standard key forward in his 100 odd career games to date.

If Darcy has a future in this team is playing primarily ruck and resting forward for short spells. Anyone that advocates for that approach needs to explain where Luke Jackson will fit into the picture then. I’ve seen a few suggest that LJ can play as a big bodied mid at the feet of Darcy. Nice idea in theory but his midfield craft is a long way off from what I’ve seen so far at the top level. It’s fine to try him there an odd time but there is no evidence so far that LJ can be a full time ruck rover.
