I fully agree a totally different set of skills is required.But, the likes of Dermie and other expert comments , persons, should remember that we the viewers can actually see what is happening. Keep their comments short and to the point.

at the very minimum, at least her 3 second time delay didn't massively impact on being able to view the game, unlike the camera operators

I am sure that the Fox team were calling the game from a studio in Melbourne and not at the game at all.
Fox have done this many times with Fremantle games.
To me, it just had that feel. Sounded more studio than arena commentary.

also, by having a defender who plays mid its just another increase of rotation through the guts.

The thing about a good racecaller is the studying of the form and colours, their words flow and they get excited in the right places, which is why he is so good at it.

Those skills transfer to football commentary.

What was with the coverage of the game? Did they have the work experience kid in the producers chair? I can't recall ever seeing anywhere close to that many failures to cut to a wider angle / alternative camera after the ball has come of out of contest.

What bothers the snot out of me the most is that I pay a lot, and I mean a LOT, of money for Kayo compared to other streaming services so I would expect the coverage to be flawless.

That includes both the production value, and the on screen talent.

When Walker comes back I would love for us to keep Chappy in the backline and have Simpson coming out of the 50 - most teams play more than one decent small these days and having Chapman and Walker working with our talls would mean we could match up on essentially any forwardline in the league

Great win but makes the rest of the season even more frustrating. We should be a top 6 lock and the losses to St Kilda (horrible), Melbourne (with no backline) and Sydney will likely come and bite us in the backside.

JL is not the guy to take us to a flag. We have zero consistency and zero accountability at the selection table.

And what is going on with Sharp? Is he doing his job covering the far wing and we are using the corridor more? He seems to barely be involved.

And just to jump onto the commentator debate, Underwood is the worst commentator in the game. The fact that we are Freo and get lumped with Underwood or Derwwwwaaayne is so frustrating. It ain't sexism, bad commentators cop plenty of flack.

I have , maybe like many others, waiting for this kid to get a real crack at the game.
Injuries inhis first year held him back a bit, but I also thing the club were protecting him a bit.Maybe they just stumbled onto playing him off the HBF.
But if that is so, then one of the stumbles that have gone our way. .
I am excited for what he brings.

He has just found his position.

He can't find the ball as a forward. He would have the same issue as a mid. It is a lot easier to get the ball as a defender

• Underwood is the worst commentator in the game (though Derm is catching up as his already low standard falls off a bit more)
• She absolutely gets some hate based on being a women from the 10% of the pop that are just horrible people
• Clouding the legitimate discussion on her ability as a commentator with her gender annoys me though because she is still the worst commentator in the game and I'm sure there are plenty of women that can do better.

People don't like discriminatory hiring.

If they hired Eddie McGuire's son to be a shit commentator because of who his dad is, everyone would hate him too.

She gets flak because she is shit and doesn't deserve to be there, simple as.
