Our 90s team was the opposite of recent years - random draft picks jumping out of nowhere with Hall of Fame levels of talent.

Another Nifty Nev score.
AFL didn't have a strangle hold on engineering outcomes for higher broadcast deals.

Much fairer playing field.

Sheezel directly says in this video that it was Paul Curtis. That absolute spud who's not up to standard.

No fun ever. No enjoying your work environment, being friends with your teammates. Only dire, stone-faced expressions and going through repetitive training motions like a robot. That's how some of you around here would have it, I'm sure. And what a great success the club would be.
Hessian sacks, self flagellation and training 24/7 until we win a GF, thanks.

I always wondered why McAdams form dropped off suddenly and figured Pagan told him to stop flying for marks and getting in Carey's way.
23 goals in his first 3 games at the level is plain insane.

You genuinely thought anything could happen when watching him play.

We were a physical team in the 90's and that wasn't McAdam's bag. That's cool. Different era.

My take is that Pagan wouldn't have been very tolerant of players not fitting that mould and he had plenty of talent at his disposal anyway.

Possibly wrong time and maybe not the right team for him.

Feels like a good reason to post any highlights from probably the most enjoyable day at the footy (excluding Grand Final wins, of course) ever.

Just quietly, I wouldn't mind this umpiring every 1st quarter!

Have said this before. Best game ever.
I found $5 on the ground on the way in. Knew I was in for a good day.
Just kept on giving!
What a time to be a Nth supporter.

You forgot 23/7 training drills

$2.10 a schooner when I started and North were very ordinary back then too. I think North are a massive trigger for me to drink
Couldn’t get a schooner was all pots.

Not sure when the NSW size took over here.

on that First Up with Kane, they mostly glossed over Richmond and him potting North and saying Richmond will be well ahead in 5 years. Not one positive comment just glossing over Lolmond's players

Kane who?

He also said Essendon will be winning finals next year. They dutifully lost by 15 goals and let Bailey Dale get 50 touches. Kane wouldn't know a footy from an easter egg, nor his own arse from a hole in the earth.

Korne with noted North hater Sarah Olle.

I think Richmond's rebuild approach is smart, but let's not pretend they have 23 18 year-olds running around.

I think we saw tiny bit of insight into Clarko man-management here:

First he gives Colby (who mentally is the type of player that needs a bit of a pat on the back and who doesn’t typically do the tough stuff) a big wrap for getting ten tackles.

Then in the next breath he gives Wardlaw, who also literally got ten tackles, a bit of a harsh comment - but he’s the type of player who mentally is a competitor and would be motivated by such a comment.

And the whole thing is couched in “what I’m saying is correct isn’t it 300 game, all Australian premiership player?”

Very interesting.

I have a new thing I’ll be cheering for this season.

Was there, like many on here, and it was great to watch. But at the risk of sounding like a broken record, the gifts from the umps to him against Gayfer(?) was also the beginning of the end for him. Watch him the next week in Perth against the Eagles. He expected the same free kicks and ended up playing for them more and more when they weren’t paid. That began the run of the umps giving him nothing and he couldn’t play his way out of it.

Pies game was his peak, but also the worst that could’ve happened to him with respect to the rest of his career.

360 managed to avoid mentioning the North game. Now the Couch Potatoes have managed to gloss over the game as well. Surprising, given Jack Riewoldt loves to bleat on about Richmond every single other week. A thumbs up for Toby Pink, bagging the number of stoppages and of course a Dusty Martin mention. But it shits me that once again there’s no actual discussion of a North game.

My main memory of McAdam was Wayne Schwass grabbing him by the jumper and almost jumper punching him during the 94 prelim. Fair to say he wasn’t happy with his on field efforts that day
