Was having a chat to a Power friend of mine and he maintained that Fog was over rated and kicks goals because the best defenders have to go to Tex and Thilthorpe. He thinks that if he was a standalone forward in another team he wouldn't get the goals he does.

I accept that as one of the best set shots in the AFL he can get a good return from minimal attempts, but by his own logic, Fog doesn't get the same amount of delivery because he has to share the forward line with two amazing leading and marking forwards.

He’s the new Jack Gunston.

Probably not a true #1 forward, but a brilliant compliment to a strong forward line.

People can underrate all they want, but if he continues on his current click he’ll end up with 400+ goals.

Just needs to start turning his 25-30 odd goal
seasons into 40+ (like he did last year).

Plays a very important second key forward role.

If the question is whether he is actually good at his role, it's been a slow burn, he's quite good now, but this is his 8th season and he has just one season of 40+ goals to his belt, he has only 2 seasons where he's played 20+ games. He's on track to better the goal tally this year and he has been fairly durable over the last 2.5 seasons so certainly he is delivering now, but if you're judging him career to date I think he's been a little disappointing.

But to answer the question, I don't think he's incorrectly rated - so neither.

I think a lot of key forwards struggle when they're the only/main target.

Jack Riewoldt did great before Lynch came in.

I think Darcy is a good player, strong, surprisingly quick and agile, good kick for goal or field kicking.

There's plenty of blokes who are ineffective forwards whether they have the best defender, 3rd defender, are 2-out or all alone in the pasture.

Rated where he should be, will be and already is a very good footballer but needs to put a body of work together for both himself and the crows to have any success.

Ok, a bigger question, has he been a one for one replacement for Charlie Cameron as the pick we got him with was the draft pick we got for CC?

He was/is slated as our Tex replacement. He has the kicking ability of Tex at goal, and is a good lead and string mark, but he doesn't have the ability of Tex, nor the aerobic capacity of him. Tex is really good at leading up the ground when he needs to, and can outpace alot of defenders, so when Tex does hang it up, alot more responsibility will come his way, but I think with the amount of games he has got alongside Tex puts him at a place to take over.

Darcy Fogherty I don’t rate. Darcy Fogarty I do rate.

Slow burn, very good season this year so far. Was a first round pick so would want to see him kick on a little more maybe.
Good second/third forward. Would trade to bring him to Port supporting Mitch G.

He's built like a brick shithouse, and still, he has the TEMERITY to often run around the man on the mark, and he doesn't mind tippy toeing around obstacles.

His kicking is very good. He's pretty smart. He probably has to be careful, but I'd love to see him crashing open packs like a hammer to an egg.

I love him, shame he got too big to play midfield, his under 18s stuff before his knee injury is still the best prospect I've ever seen. I'd love to see them run him through centre bounce like we did with Stringer occasionally.

Cameron has 4 50 goal seasons and 2 AAs under his belt since he left so I wouldn't have thought so. Still time for Fogarty to match that though.

I think he's neither under nor over rated. He's just rated. Good to very good player, not a superstar, has potential to become one once Tex retires and he gets more looks.

Over rated.

Would have been decent maybe 40 years ago.

Would be a star in country footy

But he's shit the way the AFL is currently played

Not tall enough to play as key fwd . Not fast enough to play anywhere else. Not fit enough to be a mobile forward.

He's shit. Over rated.
