Totally agree. All these reports of Richmond’s successful rebuild are grossly premature. Not to say the don’t have any young talent - they certainly do - but their rebuild still has a long way to go.
Well they’re doing something that our spuds never did, and that’s showing fight in every game. It’ll go a long way to developing a winning culture.

Leek Aleer would be commanding ridiculous sums at the moment despite not getting a game all year.

Zach Reid is out of contract. His body's dependability has been Comben-esque. Shown promise this year though. I would see if his manager picks up the phone.

OOC battlers who would nevertheless give current day Corr a run for his money: Dougal Howard and Sam Frost.

Depending on whether he can get through the rest of the year unscathed, Starcevich as a free agent is worth a decent offer.

Laverde and Cordy are this year's break-glass variety of UFA KPDs.
Miles Bergman is still out of contract time to get one back on the tarps

Judd McVee also as a maynard backup option

Leek aleer would be good, he’s just unlucky who he is stuck behind, apparently saints throwing big cash at him like they do everyone

Incidentally, I think it's their Spudley McSpuddington qualities that have actually enhanced their ability to fight and grind games out. When you're a bit-part player and under no illusions as to your own talents, you fight tooth and nail for everything. Bonus points if you have Nankervis, Vlastuin and Broad, three bloody good example-setters, to assist.

Our team is built on top 5 draft picks who often haven't seen the need for the unfashionable stuff. If our lot ever get that mix right... watch out. Until then, we need to watch out, for our own emotional safety

Weren't we linked with Maynard, or have I missed some news?

Logue, Comben, Whitlock, WDawson, Pink ... Corr
Maynard, Archer, Hardeman, Goater, Lmac, Fisher, Daniel, Ford(?)

That's a bit to work with

Even the circumcised penis on the wing offers them something.

Yep, worth picking up the phone.

But reportedly WB, Pies and the Saints are keen too.

How much would you be willing to offer?

Under the generous new salary cap, something like 700k over whoever long, maybe?
Judd McVee also as a maynard backup option
True. But I think between Archer, Hardeman, FOS and Goater we're reasonably placed for young medium defenders.

I think we either need a big KPD, or at least someone who can play the general down back. Is McVee really that guy?

Yeah. But he'd require A-grader money to extract and notwithstanding his incredible athleticism its an open question whether he'll solidify a position as an A-grade KPD at the top level. Is his 1v1 work really that good? Genuine question.

I guess the question of whether we're willing to break the bank on him depends a lot on how we rate the progress and futures of Dawson, Whitlock and Comben.

As it stands, Chom is an excellent athletic prospect with an elite intercept mark but his 1v1 side of things doesn't seem to come super intuitively to him. If he's to continue as a defender (and I think he should, given his other traits), then in an ideal world, we'd have someone who's can be that dour stopper as his counterpart.

In that sense, if you could be confident Z Reid's injury woes are mostly behind him, I think he's close to the top of the pile.

All guess work

And he’s not restricted like Tom mentioned he’s an unrestricted free agent
It wouldn't all be guesswork.

The specificity of the four year deal would be coming from Maynard's manager getting in Tom Morris' ear, trying to up the Pies offer.

The extrapolation around the salary was clearly guesswork.

Watching him on the weekend, you didn't get the impression that he's a man with a mercenary-oriented bone in his body. His intentions might not be laid out in writing in an envelope currently on its way to Arden St, but it's hardly a shot in the dark to claim he wants to stay where he is

We matched their fight on the weekend and beat them.

And for the last month we've shown as much fight as them. We've shown some for the whole year but haven't been able to keep it up all game until recently.

Is anyone aware of any free agent player that St Kilda have not thrown big money at yet? Is Ross Lyon standing down at Nepean Highway with a sign around his neck to come in and talk up a deal. I guess if you throw enough lines over your boat, you’ll eventually land a fish. We caught a Daniel, and I think it should have been a throw back as it was way under size 😎

700k for Bergman? I think it would be closer to 950/1M. He would nearly be our best midfielder.

A cheap KPF we should target is Harry Lemmey who is out of contract and stuck behind curnow and mckay

They play him either end at vfl but played forward this week and kicked 7 goals
Now your talking Nostra, West Adelaide boy with plenty of improvement in him, is learning about structures having an AFL body, being in a professional environment and learning about defence as well as attack.
