The first one I assume you are talking about is the Konstanty goal. He gets a full fist to the ball and it bounces on it's end and stays in play. Yes it would be good to get it over the line on the full but on any other day it just rolls out of bounds and it's a good spoil.

The second one Miller actually wins the 1 on 1 and wins possession and then handballs to Brown, who decides to turn back into traffic which results in the goal. I'm not sure where you see the weak effort here?

Did you catch his 3 on 1 ground ball get in the back 50 in the first quarter or his other goal saving 3 on 1 effort early in the 3rd quarter?
Yes you're right, he's awesome and not a big liability down back

But this argument that he was going better in 2017 is pretty thin. Even allowing for the fact that Dusty had an amazing season and took votes off his teammates, Cotchin would only have been best on ground twice.
He changed his game style considerably. In doing so he made the team better and himself a more fearsome competitor.

He’s been brought in before, after doing less
Our MC still reward mediocrity with certain players.

Rioli is one of them. He shouldn't, but I think he'll be brought in for Green.

If Rioli does come in, it should be as sub . He did absolutely nothing in the 2s on the weekend apart from a 20 minute burst in the last Q , when he nearly won us the game. I don’t think he’s got the tank for 120 minutes of AFL football. Probably a bit of a tough call to have a player as a regular sub, but his game is suited to the role.
Bauer definitely not deserving promotion and Fawcett meh.
Gray and Blight probably the 2 that we’ll look at as Balta, Lynch replacements

Cotchin's selfless transition saw him sacrifice his attacking flair to become a fierce, ball-winning machine, smashing into clearances and tirelessly running down opponents. Without this shift, I doubt our dynasty would have materialised. He stands alone as the best captain I've ever seen.

Take off the blinkers, buddy, there have been heaps of teams who have made rapid improvement, such the Swans (wooden spooners in 1994, Grand Final in 1996), Melbourne (wooden spooners in 1997, Grand Final in 2000), Brisbane (wooden spooners in 1998, flags in 2001, 2002, and 2003), Collingwood (15th in 2000, Grand Finals in 2002 and 2003), West Coast (14th in 2001, flag in 2006), Hawthorn (15th in 2004, flag in 2008), Collingwood (15th in 2005, flag in 2010), West Coast (wooden spooners in 2010, Grand Final in 2015), Footscray (15th in 2013, flag in 2016), Richmond (13th in 2016, flag in 2017), Melbourne (17th in 2019, flag in 2021), Collingwood (17th in 2021, flag in 2023)
who knows how long will it take for RFC to be competitive. Lose to North at the G, Just beat the eagles at the G But win over Carlton & the Suns at Marvell was way better than I expected. Lynch just getting concussions a huge bonus. 1.5 goals a game. Not the player he was....
Sims, Faull, Armstrong can play. Sims is good back up.
Campbell killing it, Mansell solid again. Green/MRJ not quite clicking yet. Lefau be handy ~ a week or 2.

Yze replaced D Rioli with Trainor so lost speed there. Banks stepped up. Tommy Gout gout Brown solid enough. replace Broad?

Dow, Hopper, Timmy T, Kmac I & II Ross is solid B grade talent. Lalor can play. Smilie is a couple of years off.

Midfield feels one dimensional Lose Shai, Baker & Graham. We need Alger & Hotton.

We need Clarke up forward not wing. That Jack Higgins is off the chain this year. Slug of a player , no pressure act bullshyte just goals.

MRJ been slightly off. Psycho good half. Run, chase. Be insane to have that every week. we got till 2026.

We will turnover Sonz, Bauer. Gray or Blight Fawcett, etc and use the cap money on a good player or 2.

Should help. we actually have some decent F/S prospects. next couple of drafts.

I'm probably the biggest Shorty supporter on here but I agree. Liking what Banks is doing. Reckon he is getting close to Shortys best output faster than Shorty got to it. Not as good of a kick as Shorty when he's at his best, but he's not been at his best for a while.

Maybe give Shorty a run as sub. Played his best in shorter quarters, maybe a late game injection will see him become damaging again.
Yeah need to try something else or play a bit of vfl. no one should be immune from a spell in the twos.

Lefau done enough to replace Lynch? Need a monster down there. Young guys are not big enough yet. If Balta was available you would almost swing him forward and play Blight down back, but we don't have that luxury

Agree we need him but Half a game in VFL after an ACL is wishful thinking

Kelts needs to get more minutes at vfl and hopefully in 2-3 weeks he will be back ( after bye)

n the meantime, let the kids have a crack

No chance kelts geta game this week

Gray & Blight should come into the side to replace Lynch & Balta
Short & Sonsie for Smith & Green
Smith will be a bit stiff as he was only on the ground for about 15 minutes.

Sure will but seems to be what teams do when players get little game time
they get sent to the VFL to get a full game into them
In his case I'd like to see him stay in for a full game against the searing pressure of Essington.

I agree but we have to temper how fast we can improve because we had a lot more really experienced quality players still under 30 than North who are in our best 22. As our young guys develop we will lose the older guys whose effectiveness probably reduces at the same rate eg Nank, Broad, Lynch, Vlastuin, hopper, Taranto.

So next 2-4 years might still be 2 steps forward 1 step back until the ones from 2024 and 2025 are in their third year plus. Thats why rebuilds can sometimes take more than 5-7 years.

Its quite likely that our R1 2027 team is younger and less experienced than the R1 2025 team, we need to be patient.

Yeah we hope he can get to the stage where he’s getting a high percentage of his time in the midfield because he could really become one of the best performers in the league when he gets there. Hands are so clean, very good by foot and a quick decision maker.

Your mob will be pleased with the win, please keep pick 2 safe for another couple of weeks at least lol
Actually not. a bit like the Brisbane game that should have been a 5 goal win, but I suppose when it's been a long time you take them when you can. We still have a bit of work to do.

Certainly hope we don't get rid of gray looks a great prospect, blight too but he won't stick around to play vfl , Fawcett dist doing enough to warrant another contract , need to kill at vfl like gray and blight are doing

I reckon Koschitzke could be the forward we call up.
Just be there for the contest. He has experience, knows the position, strong enough.
Only caveat would be has he been playing exclusively back in the VFL?
Otherwise Blights a big enough unit to do it.
Lynch has been invaluable providing the contest deep forward.
Eg. That first goal from Sims came from Lynch crashing thru the pack.
