Starting vs interchange is all swings and roundabouts. We'll see where the TOG numbers end up.

I'm quite happy to see our captain on field for the centre bounce and think it unlikely that Sheldrick would be overly aggrieved as long as he gets another chance to show what he's capable of.

I feel like Swans fans compared to other clubs' supporters are so fair and level-headed until it comes to Angus Sheldrick and then they just lose their minds for some reason. I really don't get it.

Okay but I’ll counter this a bit and for the record I’m not saying the bloke is the next Cripps.

What have we got to lose to play him for a month in his position (ruck rover/inside midfielder) and THEN make a call. He was outstanding in the first half last week before plonking the bloke on the bench 2/3 of the second half.

Can we at least find out whether he’s good enough?

Can we at least wait and see how we use him before deciding we haven't used him correctly?

Agree not like Angus Sheldrick is in the Errol Gulden stratosphere, people are strange at times.

The frustration is that it feels like we have a first round draft pick who has shown good AFL level form - but forever remains on the fringe & like Tom Mitchell, will probably therefore leave for opportunity elsewhere.

If certain other players had performed like Sheldrick did last week, they’d be locked in the team for the foreseeable future.

But ….. the reaction today is because of the bloody extended bench & the uncertainty it brings.

I won’t know whether to melt or not until an hour before the bounce.

Worried too much about the bench and Sheldrick is nowhere near what a young Tom Mitchell was .

We haven’t. How many games has he been given in total in his actual position? It’s less than a handful

I watched last week's Reserves game but can't remember where Ned Bowman played. That's how much I was impressed with him lol. He only got 14, no goals so I presume he played HB?

I see Mitchell has been named. His last outing was pretty poor. He was rested last match? Concussion? Mills, Adams and Paton I can understand. All were very good. McLean not so. Pity Buller wasn't named. I know most think he is not up to the level but nor is McLean this year.

I'd leave McLean out and go for a much smaller forward set up. The guy who goes forward to replace Amartey, I think either Blakey or Mills. Adams to the mids. Paton comes in and plays HB.

Poor comparison. Sheldrick has played plenty of ressies football and hasn't put up numbers anywhere near Mitchell did. Eg Sheldrick averages 24 disposals in the VFL in 24 and 25........ Plus, Mitchell had plenty of opportunities.

I'm a fan of Gus but we need to be realistic about his actual performance.

Oh goodie .

A Angus Sheldrick thread.

V3

Was it because he was named on the IC?
I think because it never rains it pours because of his poor selection. Paton is preferred. Paton. Insane. Check it out a couple of weeks ago.

Mills has half a game and strolls into the side. Remember what happened last time.
I like Mills and he is a strong captain and versatile player.

Our centre bounces stats are apparently the best with Sheldrick in there.

Captain hasn't been near the team for 18 months comes straight into the team after playing half a game and Sheldrick is on the bench after about 4 consecutive games as sub.

Go figure.

I guess the way I see it, the "certain other performers" who perform like Sheldrick did last week and are locks in the team, are mostly in Sheldrick's position.

He's not really vying for Jake Lloyd's spot, or Matt Roberts' spot, or Ollie Florent's spot, or Will Hayward's spot, or Corey Warner's spot, or Hayden McLean's spot.

He's vying for Isaac Heeney's spot and James Rowbottom's spot and Chad Warner's spot and James Jordon's spot. These guys are routinely among our best players nearly every week.

And if Mills' comeback is successful, he'll also be vying for the captain and one of our best players' spot.

The midfield might be a dysfunctional mess at times, but it's where many of our best players play. It's just the reality of the situation for Sheldrick really and you see it at a lot of other clubs that have a similar sort of situation in regards to their midfield.

And we were going soooooooooo well without him in the side. Not.
And he isn’t the reason why we are winning games with him in the side, the fact he has been sub on numerous occasions means there is deficiencies in his game that puts him behind numerous players. He is just an average B grade footballer, 4 years in the system how much more room for improvement is there?

And Paton is much better apparently. That is the selections that have been made.
