Johnno can **** off too.

Sitting in commentary sucking off bailey smith & geelong while we're paying him to be our goal kicking coach?

Saying we didn't take our chances?

Bloke that's your job.

Just leave.
We aren't paying him to be our cheer leader in the media. He typically does that enough when he's involved in a call for it to be pretty cringe anyway. But thats what nearly all ex-players seem to do when they slide into commentary roles these days.

If we're paying him at all (which I doubt) then it's for his goal kicking expertise. Something that becomes moot when as they were tonight many of our misses were under some pretty intense pressure.

Its easy during practice, but not nearly as easy as it is on ones couch.

We got our preparation wrong, and as much as I love Bevo, this one's on him.

We weren’t aggressive enough. The plan to avoid antagonising Smith backfired badly. He slammed Kennedy’s head into the ground and we did nothing. It was weak.

Plenty of our boys would’ve had built up frustration towards Baz. Telling them not to be physical when emotions are running high was a poor call. Geelong came in harder, won the 50/50s, and set the tone.

By the last quarter, Bevo looked the most fired up I’ve seen him. He’d figured it out too late. We shied away from the moment, and it showed with how fumbley our first QTR was.
If this is the case about smith he needs to have a good hard look at himself

Too politically correct and woke if he really.said this

That Flog should never have gotten off the chain at all..

Brad Scott has a meeting with the AFL, and Essendon end up with six 50m penalties in their win against the Swans that week.

Chris Scott has a meeting with the AFL, and Geelong get a 26-12 free kick count including countless unpaid holds that week.

Bevo needs to make some reservations next time we have a big match coming up I reckon
What's the saying.... 'The squeaky wheel gets the oil....'

The performance was awful from some, but McNeil and Cleary have been some of most improved players this season
Agree with this statement but Cleary still makes too many skill errors and McNeil misses too many easy shots. I just don’t see any improvement from them in these areas. I thought I would have given their improvement in other areas. Similarly I expect vdm to miss most shots. Who to replace them with is the question.
Baker and Bramble I’ve given up on.

If we aren't paying him then the club needs to get serious & pay SOMEONE.

It has cost us games for a decade.

Our biggest issue in the first half that led to us conceding 51 points from turnover (70 for the game). Was our decision making and constant handball or short kick into that CHF area or slightly higher.

It just resulted in turnovers we couldn’t defend and meant they went fast to and outnumber or one v one in their forward 50 and deep into their forward 50 which helped with their accuracy.

The biggest issue in the second half was our conversion, we had multiple chances on goal and just made a meal of them or hit the post. We need to upgrade McNiel. I said it last year we need better small forwards than McNiel and VDM. Credit to VDM he’s improved on last year but McNiel just continues to miss chances a small forward should be drilling every time

They're the most frustrating games, where the team doesn't play well but fights back just to blow it when the games there for the taking.

Jones getting back fit and in form is nearly as important as Darcy being back, O'Donnell just consistently gets goals kicked on him.
O’Donnell was solid as. He saved on many occasions. Jones is not the messiah you think he is.

Can someone please explain our 'less practice is more' theory to goal kicking?

Do we tell our kids that a few hours driving practice is fine, off you go? No, you practice until you get it right.

The umpiring should absolutely be even, the free kick count shouldn’t be even.

Unfortunately both weren’t even for us tonight.
Apologies, you’re right. Free kicks certainly shouldn’t be even. I didn’t think the umpiring was a huge factor at the end of the game though. But we all see things differently. I’m certainly not an expert.

You can’t expect to win if you can’t kick straight, you fumble, can’t mark and can’t hit targets. I haven’t seen so many handpasses go to feet and kicks over heads in a long time. We were lucky to have got so close but get those four right and we win easily.

Is it time for Freijah to have a spell in the VFL? Ever since he was compared to Bont his form has fallen away, imo. (Others might disagree.)

Wonder if that was related to Scott’s umpire whinge/warning regarding Smith. They were on the lookout for reasons to pay against us and he told them to try and avoid it. Once it was obvious it was going to be given to them either way, he just went “go nuts fellas”. But, by then- it was too late. Just about any other game, that would have been dangerous tackle. But not tonight, not against the AFL darling…

We're now 7-18 in matches decided by 14 or fewer points going back to the start of 2023.

Given that we're otherwise been a good team typically in these seasons (ie we should win more by 30 than 30 therefore we should win more by 14 than lose by 14) you can't say it's really anything other than dumb bad luck in some cases.

A lot of people talking about the umpiring… only one I wanna bring up is that dangerous tackle against Duryea. That can’t be paid. Simple. Especially when an actual dangerous tackle was laid in Kennedy for no free.
What about the Tim English decision out of the ruck late in the 3rd?

Clear holding the ball, then the Geelong ruckman gets a free, I can only see that as English swung him in the tackle, absolutely ridiculous decision as it was a fair tackle

Then he bumps Stewart and there's another Geelong goal from a 50...
