Club condemns Adelaide Crows player for allegedly sharing an image of a woman without permission

Absolutely, but why abrogate them from responsibility for an act they deliberately engaged in. If they have these concerns, they’re perfectly empowered to eliminate risk. Just as you and I are.
Here's the obtuseness again: they consented to the image being taken (or, more commonly, sent it consensually to a partner), but didn't consent to its broader distribution.

Why does the vulnerable person in that scenario bear the full weight of responsibility, but not the person sharing it to others without consent?

And If people don’t wanna get murdered and r-worded they should just stay at home!!! Eliminate all the risk ya FLOOZIES

Surely you're not that dumb. Murder is an act perpetrated by someone upon an unwilling participant. It's a one sided event. I get that the distribution is a one sided event too, but using your analogy, it's akin to the complainant handing the gun to the perpetrator. Yes, I agree that the action is for scum, but I still hold the murder victim partly accountable for handing the gun to their murderer.

Why does 'vulnerable' come into it. You've posted previously directly referencing females. People should be held to account for their own deliberate actions, male or female. If you authorise an image on a device that can transfer said image, then you've deliberately engaged in the ultimate distributive act. Are you not responsible for giving me your internet banking password and letting me know the authorisation code? I get the law, I just disagree. I know that if you've given me that info and I take your finds that I've breached the law. But that doesn't mean that you're not an idiot that should have known better.

People need to be accountable for their own actions.

This kind of narrative is pretty disgusting to be honest. If a person shares an intimate image with another person they are consenting to that person, and that person only, viewing that image. The law supports this idea.

Now, there absolutely is risk in sharing nude images with people, and it’s not advisable to do so with a person unless it’s someone that you have developed trust in.

However, the fact that people feel the need to point this out in instances like this, instead of placing the blame squarely where it belongs, which is on the person who made a conscious choice to share the image without consent, leads to a culture of victim blaming. This is precisely why the rates of sexual assault and harassment is so high.

Stop blaming women for wearing something revealing, getting drunk, walking through a dodgy area etc. and start blaming men for thinking it’s okay to take advantage of vulnerable women and maybe we might see some change.

The fact that the woman in this instance does not feel comfortable naming the player publicly shows how far we have to go. If she did, we all know she would cop heaps of public backlash. The fact that that is true is disgusting. The player in question has committed a crime, which will likely go unpunished. That is the key problem here.

Or.... and hear me out, she's not that bothered by it 5 months later.

This analogy of bank passwords is so gross. These are people, not assets.

But, if that’s the logic you want to use, let’s apply it correctly.

We’ve all gave our bank details to a company before, and we consented to them taking money for a specific person. Does that mean that company has the right to do whatever they choose with our details? Absolutely not. So why does a person have the right to share a naked image with whoever they want?

Again, relying on what is currently law is only for idiots. And strawmanning this to sexual abuse is only for bottom feeding idiots. Actively agreeing to providing an image on a device not controlled by yourself is a mile away from sexual abuse.

What you're actually doing is being misogynistic and refusing to understand or care about women's agency. You're deliberately painting women as victims, as if they weren't aware of the risks they were engaging in. Unlike you, I have much more faith in chicks and don't see them as perpetual victims. They are and can be the masters of their own destiny.

I guess you have less respect. That's ok, each to their own, but I think you should reassess.

A deliberate act of intimacy with a partner has a reasonable expectation that the intimacy remains within the relationship. She sent it to 1 person. If she wanted others to see she would have distributed it to others.

It might be stupid to send a bloke a nude, because as blokes we know that the risk of being passed on is high. However, the person who sends it on is violating her trust and it's his fault. There is no responsibility on her that someone else passed it on. That is victim blaming.

However, if a girl sends a nude, to send it on without her consent or knowledge is a gub act and defending it is defending the indefensible and that is why it is codified into law to protect the naive.

Sharing an intimate image without a person’s consent is a form of sexual abuse, regardless of gender. The only reason gender is relevant to this discussion is because the reality is that women are far more likely to be the victims of sexual abuse/harassment than men. The idea that my decision as a man to try and highlight this issue means I am mysogynistic is absurd.

There is a distinct difference between vulnerability and responsibility. If a person shares a naked picture with someone they have put themselves in a vulnerable position. However, the responsibility for sharing the image is 100% on the person who chooses to share it. I agree with you that I don’t think it’s a good idea to share images unless you’ve got clear reason to trust that person, but it’s still not your fault if it gets shared around. Just as it’s not your fault if you walk down a dark alley at night and get assaulted.

As I said, the law is pretty clear on this now as well.

How is this even a point of discussion is what I want to know.

This is a pretty disgraceful post.

Yep, and if people struggle to understand it, think of it this way.

A person is out at a bar, they meet each other and decide to go home together. They’re having sex, and part way through the person whose house it is walks in and joins in without consent. Who’s at fault?

TIL that when you have a security clearance it is totally ok for you share top secret information with anyone you want, for any reason. It is really the fault of the organisation that granted your clearance and shared sensitive information with you in the first place. They knew the risks, and should take personal responsibility.

I gave my credit card number to a pizza shop. They are surely allowed to do whatever they like with it now?

Actually, I had a reasonable expectation that this shop would follow the law and not keep a record of this beyond processing the transaction.

Boomer next minute: you shouldn’t be eating junk food 😤😤

Storm in a teacup promoted by the Peartiser. Seems the club dealt with it correctly last January. Media scumbags.
We'll never know if it was overkill sending it straight to the police but you'd have your doubts considering the same people who made the Tyson stengle decision are still in power.

I mean, if you're going to send someone a nude, you wanna make sure you're not identifiable. Rule #1 in the modern world - once it's out there, it's out there.

I sent a dick pic to a woman once and goddamn if my DM's didn't blow up afterwards. Hardly slept for a month with all that dinging. People should have more respect. Later, I thanked the woman...*

* the second paragraph of this post was satire and in no way designed to disrespect anyone. It was a joke ok? A JOKE!
