Autopsy Round 11 vs Freo we suck

Look, I get and understand the personnel challenges right now. You can't just ignore the fact that half our backline fell over in one week, we lost our most explosive mid/forward and have been without two of our three key forwards all season (even though I don't rate them, they still leave a hole ... and that's in addition to the massive hole left by Dixon's retirement).

So in that context, our ladder position is unsurprising and could possibly be considered par for the course. What is absolutely not fine though is the visible lack of effort and the way we just give up on games the moment the tide turns against us. For all its faults, this is not something we have regularly seen in the Hinkley reign. It's a clear sign that the coach has lost the players and it's time to go.

Just more of the same. Brought our A-game for a quarter on the back of a flogging the week before. As usual no return for our dominance and actually trail at quarter time. Slowly then rapidly fall away as our poor fitness (and attitude) takes a toll. Finish with comparable stats, get flogged in genuinely wet conditions. Rinse and repeat.

See Longmuir defending Pearce because he couldn't pull out of the contest. It wasn't a contest Longy, Pearce braced for contact and cleaned up DBJ. At least 3 matches has to be the outcome or the AFL is taking the piss. Then again, to paraphrase Choco, it's the AFL. Interestingly in his presser Hinkley while trying to remain non-committal noted there was a bit of a brace.

The only things of interest out of the game, Zerk-Thatcher who still looks hobbled played well, Atkins was close to our best, Drew's tackling and Hugh Jackson didn't look out of place. And Rioli's goals were pretty good.

Personnel challenges are a part of football. Collingwood had 8 of their best 22 out last night (that doesn't include Tom Mitchell, so arguably 9) and managed to win by 45 points, not capitulate.

It seems obvious to me that the players are sick of flogging a dead horse.

They got motivated for the first quarter after last week.

In the 1st we had all the inside 50s and no goals. It would have been obvious to the players that despite their max effort the game plan wasn't going to allow them to win.

At 1/4 time Ken probably told them the solution was to work harder.

They realised they couldn't work harder and were not going to be given the opportunity to work smarter

Subconsciously or maybe consciously they threw in the towel.

For a midsized fwd .Georgiades does well to kick 3 goals a game. But where predictable, kicking the footy to him 50 times a game.
Would consider sending Allir fwd.Sitting him in the goal square.Struggling down back ,atm.
As frustrating as Dixon was in his last few seasons. He fought hard to bring the foory to the ground,if he couldn't mark.
Its just to easy for our opponents to pick our game plan apart.Knowing our players will raise the white flag at 3/4.When all the hard work amounts to nothing.
With Tasmania on the horizon.Their could not be a worse time to rebuild the list.We might have to trade good players for high draft picks.

May be a very long time before we win another game.
Nah. We can beat Sydney and Carlton. Then have WC.

BOAK IS DONE. Lacks fitness, agility and disposal is poor. While fit in general context, looks out of shape in AFL context.

Mead to get 5 and 4 disposals in 2 games as a non forward is damning. Can only thrive when everything is easy. Cant see him as the future.

Moraes trying to find his way and he should play every game until he needs a rest break.

Lord was always going to struggle in the conditions. He needs to assert himself more.

Reality is we were undermanned. The outs were big. We need to look at the recruiters before the coaches because we have zero depth.

Jackson Mead 5 touches in a game where the ball lives on the ground. Someone please put him out of his misery

The Mead stuff is just too funny, how can you have 5 touches with 3 marks and 1 tackle in those conditions? You are around every forward stoppage

Wines 9 turnovers, 12 kicks at 8% efficiency

Rozee 7 turnovers, leading the league in those
4 a few rounds ago

Soldo would have given us more.

I wish people would stop banging on the "It's all Ken's fault"

When are we going to dump the recruiters.

Dumb failed trades. Luko looks soft at his best and far from a top 5 fwd. 4 players consistently best week in week out. 2-3 players that either 1 or all 3 can descend on that top teir.

5-6 players.... mitch, SPP, Drew, Farrell, Aliir, Rioli who again could be 1 or all of the above could elevate to the top.

4 Or so average players. Then the rest of the 22 are really only fringe players like when we had Culquon playing.

Outside the 22 we have literally noone busting down the doors.

Recruiters have failed us.

Cancelled Kayo until Carr is senior coach.
Seen this game 100 times before, no point paying to see it again.

Will just listen to 5AA from now on while doing other things.
It's not like Port will be on TV much in the "heartland" of Ballarat.
