Literally a split second later his shoulder hit him square in the head.

The only way he gets off is the AFL decides it's not a reckless way to attack the ball.

Pearce's left arm trailing may be his saving grace however knowing the AFL they'll say if he had time to move his arm he had time to avoid the contest.
Here's your split seconds later, shoulder never touches head, upper arm tangential glacing blow as per my original post. Where is your vision??

If Pearce gets rubbed out the comp is an actual joke. He was literally going for the ball. What the hell else is he suppose to do? He didn’t beeline a bloke up and shoulder him in the head, he wasn’t late to the ball it was in the contest. I’ll truly hate this game if he gets rubbed out. And 200% if it were a Collingwood player he would get zero weeks.

Yes, that's what happens. I sit 20 rows back on his wing and he just runs up and down holding his width and acting as a decoy essentially.

He is often free and screaming for the ball, but it needs to be switched with a long kick with hang time and nobody kicks it to him. Then there's also ones when he is down the line and ignored. Like when Banfield kicked it out on the full in the third quarter. It was clear Banfield saw him wide open and tried to kick it over his head to a player further away..
there’s good reason he’s ignored though, obviously players don’t have confidence in playing through him. that’s an issue in of itself, great the bloke can run all day but he can’t play football

He's playing the Chris Masten role of the dead zone winger. It's a thankless position. Watch Adam Simpson talk about it. He said that Masten playing that role was essential to the Eagles winning a premiership.

Doesn’t flow. Can’t shorten it. Freo sounds great. No problem having it for indigenous round but no need to rebrand the whole club.

In my first post I said I’m fine with Freo but not Fremantle. Freo is a name we’ve made/adopted ourselves that has less of a connection to the Fremantle guy.

Fremantle isn’t something as a name anyone should really want. The guy was a rapist/paedophile.

I don't think you should be suspended when you are going for the ball, looking only at the ball and make incidental contact - no matter how bad the contact looked or what the outcome is.

I don't think there is a duty of care for the guy coming chest out at the ball to surrender the contest to the guy going back with the flight.

I don't like that they will slow down the footage to a crawl to make it seem like Pearce had time to pull out, but they will.

Great win against a poor opposition
Chapman was immense as was Reid,
Doggas goal from the pocket was a thing of beauty
think that may have broken Traecys streak of kicking a goal in every game for quite a streak
Pity the indigenous round has descended into a slanging match between the self righteous on both sides, Indigenous people are manna from heaven for our game, as the game is to them.
Unfortunately Albo's legacy (double checked my typing there) is that %35 of Australians now erroneously think the other %65 are racist, how "We are all one " is such a difficult concept for people to get is beyond me.
Go Freo/Walyalup whatever , just more wins please.

Hehehehehe, ooof alright!! What about the party tricks for the Bolton goal..?!?! In the fook** wet!!! When have you ever seen that from a Freo team?! Bloody amazing.....it feels like Switta is finding a bit more form again too.

The difference that's clear to see/emerging is the amount of skill and flair/imagination that's in the team now. It's a work in progress, but it's exciting. I know Bolton and Jackson were costly trades, but for once....it's really paying dividends. And Reid and Dudley just have x factor galore. Voss as oafish as he can be, is starting to really build confidence in being in the team. Reid is a ridiculous pick up at #17 and Duds was a free hit in the SSP (was Duds in for Odin Jones LTI, or was that Narkle...either way) - insane! It's quite exciting, especially when you consider the injured players not there - Young, Sturt, Walker; even Walters looked rejuvenated pre-season. If the whole squad was fit it would be a MONSTER headache trying to pick a "best 23". It's great to have players like that, finally.....they compliment this team so much & make the future ahead seem so much brighter :)

Aside from the obvious of how well he played, he just looked to have maybe gotten through the first exhaustion wall they hit as first year players. He was moving OK last week but I feel like before that he was starting to look very sore old Murph.

Him and Dudley have some awesome special connection natural forwards / footballers have. We will need to strongly think about any names we bring in the next few years since losing Reid due to cap restraints would be a disaster

Nothing majorly new to say that already hasn't already been mentioned except a couple regarding incoming players.

We have a handful of players ready to play within 3-4 weeks - Driz, Fyfe, Sturt, Jaeger and Walters.

I love the current squad and the attacking/pressure we've brought in the last two matches, so changing it is a bit of a worry.

Currently, I'd be leaning to get Driz in for Sharp and perhaps give Fyfe a go for Jonno. Jeez, I can't think of who to drop for the other guys at the moment. It might be wise to give some of the more injury-prone guys like Sturt and Fyfe a run in the WAFL first.

Thoughts?

He's projecting as a genuine match winner in a notoriously difficult position. We'll definitely need to allocate a lot of cap space for him.

Sorry I had to. No disrespect to Port fans but you love to see it.

Keep Wallsy at all costs.

Still on the fence about JL but could that Giants win be the break out game we need?

Don’t post here as much but I lurk here a lot. Thread is quiet. If we lost this game the negative nonces will come out with their usual “Supported this club for 30 years and we still suck!” dribble. That’s fine but call a good win when you see it you w***ers. That was a damn solid W.

9 day break came just at the right time for Murph.

They probably gave everyone a couple of days off completely to freshen up

Is Pearce out for 3 weeks or zero.

I thought zero e.g. football act, but it makes nervous when comments on AFL com.au
It should be zero. It looked pretty similar to the one last year with Tom Lynch and he got zero. Main difference being that Pearce plays for Freo, and Lynch plays for Richmond.
...
Expecting 2 weeks as the AFL continues to try to rub out football.

1 story I heard from my uncle who played with him in Kal was he got run out of town for stealing cash from the players wallets during a game
That’d make sense, because the official “he was a bit injury prone and out of shape so we delisted him” doesn’t really. You can be any shape you want if you kick 4 a game, and even if it’s only half the season and 50 goals…

Poor DBJ has got to be feeling pretty suboptimal today; showed us what can happen when you do the brave thing and run back with the flight. Concussion sucks. Spare a thought for the bloke; the anticipated MRO rogering is not his fault.

OTOH, I don’t see how coming forward with your eye on the ball and only seeing the opponent in the last millisecond is suspendable at all. Pearce tried to mitigate the collision and was in a good position to mark if DBJ hadn’t been there. They arrived at the same time. Just bad luck.

Hopefully the MRO watches it in real time not super slo mo, where that spray of sweat off DBJ looks a bit like a boxing match…

He also stole from players when he was at sth Freo. I was at a Weags v Mel game in 91 at the MCG. John Worslfold went at him after the game over that.
