Putting aside the narrative about whether Pearce is going to be suspended or not, anyone notice that his kicking has improved quite a bit in the past couple of weeks? I’m weirdly confident whenever he has a set shot on goal, and he also pulled off a pretty attaching but high risk kick into the middle (to Chapman, I think) in the third quarter…

His kicking has never been diabolical. He’s just a very slow decision maker.

I mean, look at this campaigner:

Similar to Peter Wright he says…

Except Peter Wright left the ground two meters before he got to the ball, jumped two feet in the air, turned sideways and smashed the guy’s head with his shoulder.

Dopey campaigner can’t even stick to basic facts on the rush to try and get him rubbed out

I suppose if they cite Wright as precedent, they could appeal about the discrepancies etc..

I have a major problem with the McGuire and McCarthy on The Round So Far running the pre narrative for rubbing Pearce out.

They’re basically setting the agenda so the MRO has no alternative but to rub him out.

The AFL’s mouthpiece should stfu until a decision is made.

First Crack last year

Let’s see tonight re Moose.

If he does get rubbed out the club should show some ****ing balls for once and take it further than the tribunal. There is no world in which that should be a suspension.

Lucky for Pearce:
Freo player so likely to be treated favourably.
Even if suspended we will appeal and we always win them.

Sarcastic Emma Stone GIF

It's nothing like peter Wright at all. Flogs

Even if it was identical, the AFL have explicitly ruled that precedent is not allowed as a defence. It follows then that it also cannot be used
As the basis of a finding, guilty or otherwise.
The foolish journalists don’t have enough stories to report on, hence anything like this they flog to death on nothing but their opinions which are perversely slanted against Fremantle.

If anything, it's more similar to the Clark - Shultz incident in that it was a football incident.

I get what you're saying but I'm not sure Sharp is a problem. It's more that he's performing a role that leads to a low possession count. I could be wrong as it's difficult to see on television. But it seems that Sharp is playing a role to keep the ground wide, almost like a decoy. I'd really appreciate if someone who's at the ground and watched Sharp could confirm or deny. His running stats are huge and he's getting picked to start every week (never on the bench/last picked which is a sign you're on the outer).
Has anyone at the games watched Sharp closely?

I don't think he's doing a bad job but he's still at risk of losing his spot to O'Driscoll

there’s good reason he’s ignored though, obviously players don’t have confidence in playing through him. that’s an issue in of itself, great the bloke can run all day but he can’t play football
I think he’s lost his confidence. His ball handling is awful, fumbles and is slow to pick it up and his ability to move it on to advantage seems gone. I can’t remember this last year. Also his shepherding and positioning is poor. His vision is also poor. I can’t remember this see why team mates bypass him. I would like to see O’Driscoll have a go and maybe have sharp as sub.

A frame or 2 earlier, shows Pearce's left arm extended which means that Pearce didn't even brace in the traditional sense (ie Maynard style).

Pearce was just as exposed as the Port guy. What would the AFL actually prefer Pearce to do here? He just had more mass so went

Probs get off on the DBJ incident but get three weeks for the man bun.

Can't figure out what happened on the 3rd Port goal in the first quarter?

There's a contest where Wines is in front of Cox where they pay a kick on that position - and Wines gets up and walks off with a hand on his neck without really looking like he's seriously injured. On the replay the commentator call it as high contact and No 30 (Lord) for Port is near the action with Pearce but there's a fair bit of distance from any other players, yet it's Georgiades who is not in frame on the replay that takes the kick and goals from just inside 50m?

I think the commentators/camera just messed up there. I saw the same thing and did a double take and it’s Mitch who was infringed

Yeah just watched it again. It was a FF Georgiades. They showed Wines sore after he came off second best to Voss in a ground ball that same play. Commentators saw Wines vision and put two and two together.

I've watched it a few times now, but only with the one camera angle. Can't see Georgiades there. It doesn't seem like a down the field free kick either. Wines, Lord and further downfield Powell-Pepper are closer. Not sure where Georgiades comes from.
