Veteran Nat Fyfe continues to edge closer to a return to match minutes following his hamstring injury, with Merriman confirming the 240-gamer will increase his training loads this weekend.

“As ever with Nat (Fyfe), he is extremely diligent in his training,” Merriman said.

“He’s been outstanding. We’ll see him do a higher-volume football circuit this weekend - which will be controlled - and then hopefully he’ll be available for selection the following week.”

this was 4 days ago, but he didn't play in the WAFL yesterday, or did he?

That means he's doing high volume training this weekend then playing for Peel next weekend all going well.

Being the youngest or second youngest team every week is great early in a rebuild but we've been rebuilding for almost a decade. It'll end up costing JLo his job if he doesn't pick the older guys that aren't superstars but bring a level of maturity.

O'driscoll to build fitness in the WAFL

McDonald in for Pearce.
Aish in for Simpson.
This exactly. We are still needing veteran leadership in the team. We are still too young every week, shouldn’t lose sight of that just because we had a couple of wins. If Aish is back in form he is a perfect in.

I think Moose will go. Unfortunately you can’t always go for the ball if not showing duty of care to the opposition.
It goes against everything players were taught growing up, but it’s just the way the modern game goes.
I think Draper and Noddy come in. Not sure who goes out, maybe Banfield? (Could count himself unlucky).

If we appeal, is there any wiggle room between zero and 3 weeks? Or are those the only options. I don’t know the system well enough.

We will appeal for sure, it’s bullshit, it’s a football accident and Pearce wasn’t the ‘careless’ one as he was going for the ball, not back with the flight. Not that there’s anything against DBJ who was being courageous. It’s just a joke, even though not surprising.

It was deemed rough conduct
They could have gotten him for careless?

3 weeks for Pearce is such a f**ing joke and is exactly what is wrong with this game.

Appeal it and make plenty of noise.

So we want to tell players don't protect yourself, get knocked out, or better yet pull out of the contest like a coward

And we all know if this is Collingwood or Carlton that this is a non issue

Nah. We'd argue that he was reasonably contesting the ball so it's not a reportable offence which would be zero weeks. Can't argue careless, high, or severe impact.

Hope the port player got done for rough conduct for coops shoulder.
if it was danger or another victorian god the media would be calling it the downfall of football but its just a freo player so who cares.
Next time anplayer goes for a hanger and knees a guy in the head they better get done for rough conduct. flipping pissed off.

Yep.
What I dont get is that striking carries a fine generally, So the act thats actually a football act is deemed to be way worse than the one that isnt a football act. Game has gone to shit.
I am looking forward to the appeal and our legal team asking for what other legitimate options AP had. Stop and get collected? Quickly throw self sideways? Ninja Back Flip?
Isnt allowed to show duty of care to himself but has to to others. Makes **** all sense.

I don’t know the legalities, but I’d argue all three of those.

It’s not careless since he’s going forward for the ball.

Is it even high? Or just a high shoulder hit?

Severe impact, I’d say high impact. And that is contributed to both players. Just like any ‘severe’ legal collision. But I’m probably wrong I guess, but surely a good lawyer like Carlton’s lawyer could get him off on one of those as a technicality.
