The Libs aren't going anywhere, Morrision was a debacle, Dutton was unelectable and they still got 40 seats. Some people's minds simply can't be changed, and brand awareness is a thing. That said, they obviously can't continue down the same path and if they reinvent themselves, they will govern again.

Seems like that's not happening for a while, given Abbott/Credlin's continued influence.

They'll have to be unrecognisable from their current form, much like the QLD LNP in 2012 were seemingly unrecognisable from Borbidge's Nationals in the late 90s.

Even in a more recognisable form (a lot of Newman-era types are still hanging around, like that twat Bleijie), it took the QLD LNP a decade to win government.

Yep. They've weeded out all the moderates (although apparently Ley is one according to a poster on here!). To become unrecognisable from their current form, they would need to bring moderates/liberals back into the tent. I'm not across the minute details of the evolution of the LNP in Queensland, but there seems to be no MHRs or senators who could be a catalyst for change.

I can't think of any.

Karen Andrews was probably the most moderate, but she's gone.

Archer too. Previously had Petro Georgiou and others of his ilk, who retired (after being challenged by an investment banker called Frydenburg), over a period of 15 years any moderates have been replaced by conservatives.

I was referring to the QLD LNP, but I agree that Petro Georgiou would look like a raving lefty in the modern L/NP.
