Saints board more focused on our draft picks than their shit team and coach.
Very funny coming from a team that has had more first round picks than just about anyone in the last 25 years. Their best ever player was a priority pick lol.
I used to think hardly anyone in Victoria knew our players. Turns out Saints fans know our players very well!

Ross is clearly just trying to distract away from their recent poor performances and Saints fans can't handle that we've gone past them. Melting pot for toxicity.

It's excellent to know the leadership are as pissed as we are. The victim culture at St Kilda is toxic, hypocritical and the reason they are the biggest failure in the AFL.
Considering their greatest modern day player was a priority pick from QLD it's very hypocritical as well

What makes it worse is Ross played for Fitzroy in the late 80s / early 90s (ouch) and the Brisbane Bears. So this guy knows all too well how hard things can be when you're at a struggling club + one based in Queensland. Yet he still comes out with a comment like that. Unbelievable.

Don't forget they were gifted another top 2 priority pick the following year as well. Ross benefitted greatly from the priority pick recruitments of Riewoldt and Ball in his first stint with St Kilda. The hypocrisy is very evident.

To produce a Jed Walter or Alex Davies is 100s - 1000s hours of work over 6+ years with talent id, coaching and footy programs including chance to play CTL.

For every Jed Walter there are 30 kids given that time and effort that never progress to the afl but improve standards in second thirds fourth tiers etc. they don’t directly do anything for the suns now. But ensure over 10-20 years more local afl level players continue to be produced.

It’s largely an investment in local football that has added benefit in producing afl players. We’ve been lucky at the rate they’ve come recently.

I should add: how do clubs that get access the nga prospects progress AFL in under represented communities?
Do st Kilda run regular clinics and ongoing programs for African kids? Or run clinics and ongoing programs in suburbs where there is a very diverse local demographic.
42% of Victorian families have both parents born in Australia. Seems like there would be a high number of kids that are nga eligible. These clubs probably just need to do better at converting them into AFL players.

Last night beating one of the precious VFL Father Son Rule clubs at Docklands was huge.
Here we’ve been battling away with less picks than GWS and TAS will get, woeful facilities, not getting the rub of the green like last year against St Kilda when umpire 31 gifted the precious VFL club a win and no benefits of the Father Son rule and yet we still overcame the preciousness of St Kilda.
A win at Docklands.
Happiest of Monday ever..

You know what I find so interesting. When the media backs up Ross' comments they talk about the Academy and having 3 top players coming through to say we shouldn't have it. But no one's talking about matt rowell not resigning yet even we've been a top 4 side for the entire season and have a huge potential with the age demographic of the club and finally having a coach that can take us there.

P.s. I think Matt Rowell is pissed about luko going. I'm sure luko has told the Suns and port that he's a forward and demand that's where he plays. It's hard to have that culture in ur team. Just reminds me of the Gary ablett days which has been our problem the whole time... players thinking they're above the club.

I grew up a StKilda supporter in Melbourne Bods and I take pleasure in telling you l hate them with a passion now

The irony in it all is Ben Long was our leading goal kicker yesterday, a St Kilda cast off.

Geez, Dimma did not seem too worried about Mac's injury in his presser. I hope he's right.
You’d think if the ankle was even suspected of being serious the club doctor wouldn’t have let Mac back onto the ground to sign autographs let alone hobble across to the other side of the field and back.

Yep, after 15 years in wilderness when it finally looks like Suns are on the way up oppositions teams start to complain about concessions. Nobody complained when Suns were raided by Vic clubs (developing players for them) and of course people forget about their concessions in the past.

Did they forget that Suns are expansion team in NRL market with a goal to grow AFL game? Of course, AFL has to prop them up until they are competitive. As a side note, what a stupid organisation AFL is starting a new club in metal sheds for 8 years with untried admins, coach and underfunded in all aspects.

By the way, after expansion clubs and Lions Saints get the highest AFL contributions.

As for matching bids, did they forget that AFL adjusted index values? So basically instead of drafting players from Vic they get home grown talent for much closer to fair price and there will be spill over of academy kids to other clubs.

Other teams got now NGAs with the same rules.

Except academy Suns don't have many advantages; no F/S, s**t travel, less 3rd party opportunities, less sponsors.

Get over it opposition fans. Enjoy Suns game style. It's fun to watch when it's on. Hey, they could still struggle in the 2nd half of the season when they usually fade out.

13K crowd is a disaster. I am pretty sure in the same time slot Suns at home would draw bigger crowd now. What does it tell you about Saints? And all RTB had to say - it's not my business. Just maybe play more attractive footy. Open up game not only when you fall behind.

It should be funny that a lot of the same Vic clubs who used to laugh at the Suns, how you could not be successful on the Gold Coast, it was a waste of money (which is a fair argument, tbh), and openly talked about getting players to 'come home', are now having a dummy spit when it starts to come good.

Instead, its just annoying.

It is especially annoying coming from the remaining 6 inaugurals (South Melbourne and Fitzroy are no more, leaving Geelong, Melbourne, Collingwood, Carlton, Essendon, and St Kilda from those that formed the VFL in 1897). The Tigers came in 1908 and the Hawks, Dogs, and North in 1925.

The inaugurals have had literally 120+ seasons to make hay and make the most of that inherent advantage. Even the Hawks, Dogs and North have had 100 seasons. If your Vic club has not done much overall, or not done much recently, or does not have an inherent advantage against the 4 northern clubs, ummm.........kinda not sure what to say.

It really gets tiring going through all the 'free' top 20 picks that the Vic clubs got through the 90's and 2000's. If you did not win a flag in that period given that extra talent going to the bottom 4 teams, have an effing look in the mirror. It probably means your off-field was a joke, your recruiting team was not good enough, and maybe your coaches were 'limited'.

Here is another joke. We have 'self-generated' top 10 picks in each of the last 14 drafts and plenty have been laughing at that joke. Why is not funny anymore?
