I have seen what an inform Luke Jackson can bring and do not buy into the narrative that good mobile rucks are not important in the modern game.
This guy is exactly who the Eagles need and they should be throwing the kitchen sink at it.

What is the quality of the 4 players Pies need points to draft.

Are they top 5 picks?

Top 10?

Pies need points to draft them. Lots of points.

Eagles will hold alot of picks worth points.

Collingwood go get all 4 players. Several first round quality.

Eagles give up the points to help get them.

Simple concept.
Interested to see what is your proposal for a trade for cameron to see how many points it gives the Pies
If i was the Pies list manager i would be telling Matty Clarke & Darcey Cameron you want to move sure
The trade price is the Hawks 1st rounder plus the eagles 2nd rounder otherwise its not happening and you are a collingwood player.

No Chance Matty Clarke would argue that with the trade they got for Barrass

For all the talk of hard nosed bargaining, the Pies have been letting "homeward bound" players go eg Aish, Noble (his dad is up that way) and Ollie Henry.

If Cameron is sold on going home I'm happy for us to let him go.
Ollie Henry you guys were bent over a barrel and ollie turned out to be a real **** for you guys
Aish was during the salary cap issue i believe ?
Noble was a loyal guy thet never got over being left out

But Cameron will kick the pies in the guys with no ready replacements and the pies will be looking for Max return
Hawks 1st + Eagles 2nd looks fair

Aish left to join Longmuire when he got the Freo gig. I believe family was involved.

Ollie Henry we wanted to keep , from memory we could have been nastier?

I feel like we tend to trade if a player wants to go.

Aish was offered a 4 yr contract by Longmuir and the Pies suggested he take it as we had cap issues.

Ollie Henry we waited until the very end and only traded him for pick 25 + Geelong had to add a player which the Hawks wanted to secure us Mitchell.

Cameron is a little different. He is in the leadership group and I think he would be happy to wait a year if a deal couldn't be worked out. Also we really don't have a ready made replacement for him. The ruckman in our VFL team are very young.

It's probably up to the Eagles to decide how much they want him.

Fair enough, and thanks for correcting my errant memory on Aish.

Cameron is very important to us, we took a fringe ruck from Sydney and helped him develop but at the end of the day its his work, and I feel bad if he's somehow prevented from returning to his home state if thats what he wants.

I guess its good to have player managers and list managers handling the grubby side of footy.

If we are going for him it'll be for the hawks first which would really annoy me as we shouldn't be coughing up that much capital for a 30 year old.

Hoping we find other targets to replace our current wafl standard rucks that don't cost anywhere near as much.
It will annoy you even more as that Hawks pick alone wont be enough to get a trade for cameron done
I have no doubt it will be atleast the hawks 1st PLUS a 2nd rounder and wouldnt surprise me if its
Hawks 1st plus Eagles 2nd rounder

Cameron is a better player than Barrass and is worth more so just looking at the eagles trade and demands last year get ready to pay

Cameron is not a better player than Barrass nor is he worth more. He is however more of a need for the pies than Barrass was for the eagles.

Which side of the fence are you looking from ?

There would be very little people in the footy world that would rate Barrass higher than Cameron today
1 player is in AA form and the other is nowhere near that.
I would happily take any bet that just the Hawks 1st rounder wont get that deal done in this years draft where that pick blows out to 20+

Pies wont trade Cameron whilst in AA form and they are in a premiership window for cheap and if they dont have a ready replacement.

Maybe we need more Pies supporters' views on their valuation on Cameron

Barrass was in borderline AA form (the same as Cameron) and was a year and a half younger. Not suggesting Collingwood would part with Cameron due to their need, but all things being equivalent Barrass had more value.

And there you go.

It’s not just the playing ability in area of need you get from an experienced player like Darcy it’s also the leadership qualities and the ability to “set” standards for the young players at the eagles

You know , all the intangible stuff .

Leadership qualities are highly sought after down at lathlain so much so theyre quite happy to cough up top 3 picks for said players.

If I was the pies I’d be asking for the hawks first and second straight off the bat

They can ask for whatever they want.

They ain't getting that though.

Barrass filled an area of need for a contender. Teams outside the top 8 could've trumped their offer but didn't.

Cameron fills an area of need for a team that will be lucky to break out of the bottom 6 next year, and he's about to turn 30.

Freo aren't going to be interested in another ruckman, so it's WC or bust of he wants to return to Perth. If a contending side with a need for a ruck wants to enter the race that's great, but why not just stay at the Pies in that case? Won't get a better situation football wise than the team he is already a part of that is on top of the ladder.

If I am the list manager I am not putting Hawthorn's first or any other first on the table let alone plus more. It scares me that we are even linked to him at this juncture given our willingness to do stupid trades. The only players on our list Cameron's age or older are Cripps, McGovern, Yeo, Kelly, Sheed and Hunt. Sheed will sadly retire or be delisted and there are question marks over Hunt (I think he's an OK role player). Just does not fit the timeline. If he was 26/27 and you're talking about 3-4 years then seeing what hte 30s bring sure, but he's 31 next year.

Then that list manager should not be approaching a contracted player in a team thats top 4 and in a flag contention with no reserve in that position. Collingwood wouldnt give a stuff about where the eagles are in their development and ladder and would only be interested in what they have to offer to convince Cameron to be allowed to leave.

This sounds like a problem your list manager has created and if he has written a chech he better make sure he has the funds to pay for it as it is going to be expensive. Get ready for the melts that will be happening if the eagles do trade for cameron

how nastier did you want to be? didnt collingwood got back a brownlow medalist who was a big part in their flag??

Yes, it's a turn of phrase.

Our actual list manager can approach any player or player manager he wants. He can offer Darcy Cameron $1m a year and then offer Collingwood pick 50 in a trade if he feels like it. Probably won't be very successful doing so.
And he will get told NO kind of defeats wasting his time getting paid by the eagles yeah
or Maybe Phil is doing the offering and negotiations again
