Oh btw Josh Battle bathed tonight against good side ….

Hawks battling this season. Made hay while they were perceived as being close to a flag.

Yep. Pies show how to do it. Heaps of solid experienced soldiers with good skills and footy IQ. A few absolute game breakers.
And a multi pronged forward line that always looks like scoring when they go in…options everywhere
Pressure rating hit 256 for them tonight amazing forward half pressure
They’ll hopefully hit an age cliff but on this form they’ll take some stopping..
I’m actually happy for Membrey good luck to him

Watching Pies players who just consistently hit the target I’m absolutely convinced - can you kick has to be our no 1 target criteria
Houston Daicos Pendles Sidebottom Lipinski ….they just hit targets …
Forget the high priced hacks …
Watch Sidebottom at 34 kicking inside fifty on the non - preferred

I'm convinced that good kicking has a lot to do with confidence. Confidence from the receiver to commit to wanting the ball and obviously the confidence of the player delivering. They believe it will work.
Some of those Collingwood players are shittrucks but they all have massive confidence. It's not from their natural ability at the level.
Somehow they've built it. We need to build it as well as we're nothing like it.

Battle is also not a very good 1v1 defender when isolated, never has been. Tonight he’s being isolated.
He's a systems player. Sometimes with us if he got called to play on he'd panic a bit.
His hok mates just chucked him the ball when it got hot and he made some mistakes.
The day care is second to none though.

That's one way to look at it. Another would be to say that he hasn't been signed behind closed doors. As in he didn't exactly say were confident he'll sign soon.
I just think it's interesting that he raised it without being prompted. Suggests to me he's confident a deal will be done otherwise it would look foolish.

Very dissapointed that we did not put Cordu on the LTI to have a crack in the mid season draft.

We desperatelt need to keep churning the list to find some talent and Cordy has no future

He didnt have an injury that would keep him out for the rest of the year so didst qualify to be placed on an inactive list.

It's not like we are the only club that passed on the mid season draft. If there isn't a player there that you want why use it?

I think because it would have been a high pick and the success of Hall and Sharman has footy fans looking for excitement and hope. Even Max Heath is still on the list from the Sharman mid season draft. It’s a free hit, so it’s not like it’s going to be a Hannebery style financial disaster if the draftee doesn’t work out.

Nah not quite right. The LTI rules say a minimum of 6 weeks qualifies as a LTI but it is usually only used when a player is definitely out for the season because then you don't need to worry about having a list spot for the injured player to return to if needed.

We have a full list, so if we put Cordy on the LTI and selected someone in the mid season draft, Cordy has lost his spot on the list and cannot get it back irrespective of whether he recovers from his injury or not.

So the question is (and we will never know what the answer was) - Was it the Club, Cordy or the AFL that baulked at that creative use of the LTI rules that would have effectively ended Cordy's career just so that we could get an early look at another player.

It's not really free as it takes up a list spot. Clearly they just didn't rate anyone that they wanted to put on the list, along with a bunch of other clubs. You need to also remember we would have a long term list strategy where we'd know we are picking up players over the offseason and we have said we are not looking for quick fixes.

These are the rules. It's not longer the Long Term Injury list. We were not eligible for the mid season draft. Time for everyone to move on.

Marshall has been one of our few match winners and is a heart and soul type. Very dangerous losing those for a mercenary. Part of the problem for a young side like GC and GWS is that there isn't a culture or a brand to walk in and attach to. Marshall looks like a popular happy bloke. Cut that out at your own peril.

If our next flag is coming off the back of the phillipou, owens, wilson, nas etc core- that's 4-5 years from now.

Ditching marshall for TDK (despite being a heart and soul, popular match winner now etc) is the right move.

The only mistake would be not being ruthless and extracting something for marshall that will be useful in 4-5 years time (a late first rounder or something)

A piece of 4x2 around the ears could have helped that. 🥴
Could’ve invited him to a “Mad Monday In May” event and then placed him on the LTI (Long Term Inebriated) list 🤪

Their system seems so well drilled and really selfless. No-one is going for personal glory, they look for teammates and block and harass for each other. Geelong similar. They just know what they are meant to do and can bring in a new player and expect them to know how to play it.

Having players work into space for the kicker helps too. We seem to stand still and pressure the ball carrier into mistakes.
