Man I really loved that.

In non-Freo fashion, we pulled off the Wet Weather + Non-Choke Combo win.

First time in awhile that I could say everyone was committed in every contest across all 4 quarters of football. Where credit is especially due is how these wet weather games became chalked in as a loss for us in recent times, but now we've won 2 this season - including arguably in our best win.

Getting the 4 points before the bye and everyone buying in and just making sure the the job got done was exactly what we needed. Today will end up being a big reference point of this playing group maturing and hopefully achieveing more come seasons' end.

Historically as a supporter I've always taken awhile to come around to, recognize and "love" our trade-ins. But holy shit, is Shai Bolton something else. Watching him play on and off the ball, I can actually feel and see his intent and will to want to win in his body language (comparative to other players) which says a lot. I have to be honest and say that I didn't really expect this from him, and I do remember for sure especially with 2 premierships to his name, there were some questions on what we would get despite us knowing the talent that is there. I think we're very lucky to have recieved Bolton at the point of his career that we did. He hasn't just been popping in and out for the final touch - he has been commited and consistent all season long.

Also feeling a bit justified with my "IQ" opinion regarding Wagner that I made last year :)

Honestly just a great game where every player had a moment - even Banfield when he pulled the trigger on a sexy kick when the game was hot.

Clark as always, was outstanding. Just felt like a real statue in particular today denying the offensive tide of the Suns when it came. A few clutch grabs which were huge.

I don't want to be negative, because we did win a game I gave us no chance of winning at all - BUT I think we need Treacy to come online - and him finding his next gear again will be very important for how our season plays out. I have given him a pass for his form recently but that moment where he could have iced the game but dropped dropped an easy mark in one of the few times he gets separation and good delivery... Very frustrating.

The bye - combined with basically a month of no travelling, and 3 winnable games that we hopefully bank, is a good time for a few players, not just Treacy, to reset, find some form and build some momentum.

Being 10-5 would be huge.

Noah Anderson is one of the most overrated players in the AFL….

I got a Homer voice "STUPID FLANDERS!" in my head.
Sexy Homer Simpson GIF
I hope we play Simpson on him next year

Maybe I'm more conscious of it more then I should be but thought Johnson showed his best disposal / IQ in a long time. Him, Ras and Wagner stepping up a level really has been massive

Agree, not sure there is room for many other players mids to come in like JOM, Fyfe etc etc.

One of the Rucks was going to rest forward, but Paddy Voss (who I think was insurance for an injured Darcy)
has made the third tall (with 3 snags and a lazy 8 tackles today) spot his own.

Allows Dogga to run as a mid, which gives a matchup problem to all and sundry.

Bolton coming into form with his chase and sticking tackles is a bonus.

Andy Brayshaw is the acting and next skipper. A leader and ball winner at a young age.

I mean it was a hard sell with the weather.
They were giving a free GA ticket with every one bought, didn't help much obviously.

They were? And here was paying full price for two like a chump, and despite having a QLD membership and should have got one free but but couldn't get it to work. Still at $16 a ticket not too stressed.

First live game in a couple of years since Freo played the Lions at the GABBA. Drove home a lot happier today 😁

Its kind of weird to say how valuable Reid is to the team without him having bags of goals, possessions, clearances etc (despite his couple of bags and his score involvements)

Given he's a first year player - what impresses me most is his calm, compossed, mature and intelligent nature.

If given the choice of Ashcroft or Reid - I'd take Reid all day - purely because of his decision making skills.

How he disguised that chip and chase in the last quarter to gain territory and burn time was excellent

Yea was actually leaning towards (have been for awhile tbh whist originally thinking it would be Andy) Caleb getting the captaincy but man idk , that was as good as captains game in one of best wins in years by brayshaw.

If it was an audition he just got straight 10s
I’ve never liked the idea of “co-captains” but if ever there is a case for it it’s Andy & Caleb.
