I don’t know whats wrong with Duggan this year cause his kicking and Dump kicks have gotten way worse this year. Last couple years he wasn’t this bad. Man 10 years ago Duggan entered the comp and we were frothing how much of a gun kick he was. Especially with his non dominant footDuggan would be leading the comp for % of field kicks that aren't drop punts.
Why does he kick like a half back looking for touch or an on side runner?
Probably relates to the new game style, pace and intensity? Although there's always pressure in the backline.I don’t know what's wrong with Duggan this year cause his kicking and Dump kicks have gotten way worse this year. Sold out unless you're a child, a very small adult human or a fan of long sleeve in a 3XL or biggerSorry for the impasse, is the Jumper from the weekend for sale by the club?
He essentially became the complete opposite to what he was drafted asProbably relates to the new game style, pace and intensity? Although there's always pressure in the backline.
I didn't know he was once a good kick; he did kick a long raking bullet to a team mate on Sunday, was polish. But those panic dump kicks from backline congestion are a killer!
Wow, at the risk of negativity - he doesn't have pace, nor smarts, nor point of difference, neat+sharp disposal?, creativity with ball?, poise under pressure?, classy and composed? These were all his attributes at 18.He essentially became the complete opposite to what he was drafted as

I know the game has changed a lot in a decade, but I don't think Duggan and neat is ever a description I'd have used.Wow, at the risk of negativity - he doesn't have pace, nor smarts, nor point of difference, neat+sharp disposal?, creativity with ball?, poise under pressure?, classy and composed? All I see now is a solid build, a deep voice and a good leader.![]()
I feel like this game style should suit him.Probably relates to the new game style, pace and intensity? Although there's always pressure in the backline.

My scenario was not either/or, it was both. We win games but not 2-3 more than Rich and NM thus leaving us bottom. In almost every instance winning 2-3 extra games is better long term than winning a spoon.

So take all we can get this year because next we shouldn’t be near the spoon (12-14?)
Spoon = #1 + leverage
Oscar Band 1 compo = #2 + leverage
Plus maybe maybe maybe R1 PP. (But unlikely the vAFL would give a hated nonVic club any help even if they are ‘possibly the worst team ever’.)
All in an apparently shallow draft - and with Tas coming it might our last really good draft.
That could be a massive haul.
FFS. Please read and comprehend my posts. I was putting forward the hypothetical that if we win games, but (unfortunately) not enough to go past Rich and NM, then we’d get the spoon. And that there could be serious advantages in that this year.A supporter of this once club barracking for a spoon is not what I want to be.
Good luck with your plan.
You've made four posts now talking about winning more games, but still retaining pick 1 being your best scenario. You only get pick 1 if you win a spoon.FFS. Please read and comprehend my posts. I NEVER EVER ‘barracked for the spoon’. I was there R1 1987 do not ever question my allegiance. Clear enough?
Grrrr!
Same here. At the risk of being overly harsh/critical on him, I'm not sure he's suited to the new game plan because of its pace and decision making skills on the fly. The whole team is still getting up to speed in that regard, still early days I guess. But Duggan does have a history of bad/dump kicks even with Simmo.I know the game has changed a lot in a decade, but I don't think Duggan and neat is ever a description I'd have used.
No current season stats available
Does this include vertical metres gained? In these stats they should deduct turnovers and resulting metres lost, from metres gained! It's only true and fair? (but I guess the oppo players gets those metres gained)

Ok, wasn't aware of that, was wondering why he changed so much.In fact he was pretty much exactly as his draft scout describes when he started- he played 12 games in a row after debuting and I remember thinking he was a really impressive midfield prospect- had obvious pace, was a smooth mover in traffic and looked good by foot. If you can be bothered digging up match threads from 2015 you'll find quite a lot of people fapping about the blue chip midfield prospect we'd gotten for a steal.
But he seriously ****ed his PCL late that year and he was never quite the same player after that. Came back the following year as a defender.
Don't know why exactly but there are is something about PCLs early in careers that seriously affects a player's development.

Even Jeff White has highlighted Duggan dump kicks

Far from a guarantee that they even go ahead with Tassie. All in an apparently shallow draft - and with Tas coming it might our last really good draft
